ONE of boxing’s most vicious feuds is turning into a family affair over 30 years after its last battle.
Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn last threw hands in the 1990s, now their sons will do battle in a bout every bit as feisty as their own this weekend.
For now, the Eubank’s hold the bragging rights, after Eubank Sr won the first fight in 1990, and held on to his record when the second fight was declared a draw in 1993.
But its the turn of Conor Benn and Eubank Jr to spark things back into life this weekend.
Eubank Jr and Benn were originally scheduled to step into the ring in 2022, before Benn was suspended from donning his gloves after testing positive for banned drug Clomifene.
That’s added three more years to an intense feud, with the pair finally returning for their punch-up on Saturday.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will play host to the British battle as Benn and Eubank Jr start their own chapter in domestic boxing.
It might feel like unfinished business for longstanding boxing fans who will remember when Nigel Benn called out Eubank Sr for a third fight back in 2016, but nothing ever came of it.
Despite a feeling that their fathers are now friendly, their is certainly a real rivalry between the new generation.
The build-up to the fight has certainly had plenty of needle.
Most notably Eubank Jr’s decision to slap an egg across Benn’s cheek during a media conference – a cheeky nod to Benn’s defence of his drugs ban being down to a “highly elevated consumption” of eggs.
Eubank – who had 16 eggs nestled in his pocket at the time – coughed up a hefty £100,000 fine for his antics.
Now fans are hoping the battle in the ring will be just as entertaining as the build-up as the pair spark their father’s legacy back to life.

What were the weigh-in results?
Chris Eubank Jr is set to pay a massive fine directly to Conor Benn after missing weight by just 0.05lb ahead of their fight.
At his first attempt, he scaled 160.2lb before his second and final go saw him tip 160.05lb – missing the mark by an agonising 0.05lb.
For context, that is the same weight as an AA Battery.
It means Eubank will have £375,000 deducted from his purse per the rules in their contract – with the cash going directly to Benn.
Benn had earlier weighed in surprisingly light at 156.4lbs – nearly 4lb under the middleweight limit.
SunSport predicts…
Here’s what SunSport’s Jack Figg reckons will happen when a family legacy writes a new chapter…
There could be so many variables that decide this fight.
Can Eubank make the weight well? Is he past his best? Is Benn big enough for middleweight? Does he have enough experience?
But boxing history tells us – most of the time – that a good biggun’ beats a good littlun’.
For that reason, I feel Eubank will have too much size and range for Benn added in with his experience over the 12 round.
I’d pick a Eubank points win but it’s not a sure thing.
