A young boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was knocked down in an alleged hit-and-run collision in Bournemouth.
Police said the driver of the car – a white BMW – failed to stop at the scene and was later traced.
Two people, a man and a woman, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The collision happened shortly after 11.30am on Monday in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth, Dorset.
The child was taken to hospital by paramedics who said he had suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.
A statement said: ‘At 11.38am, we received a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth.
‘It is reported that the driver of the car – a white BMW 118 series – failed to stop at the scene.

‘Officers attended and the road was closed to allow emergency services to safely deal with the incident.
‘The pedestrian – a boy – was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are potentially life-changing. His family have been informed.’
Police added: ‘Following fast-time inquiries at the scene, the vehicle was located and a man and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident.
‘They are in police custody at this time.’
