It was Enzo Fernandez who grabbed the all-important opening goal with a header, following a deflected cross from Reece James.
The Blues have been solid at the back too, not giving Brighton too much of a sniff as they hunt for an equaliser.

42′ Brighton are upping the pressure here at Stamford Bridge as we head towards half-time, but Chelsea are coping with it well so far.
Minteh does his best to get past Jorrel Hato, but the Dutchman stops him in his tracks with another well-timed tackle.
The young defender looks really comfortable in Levi Colwill’s left-centre back position so far.

38′ These Brighton defenders are not taking it easy on Joao Pedro in the slightest, as the Brazilian forward finds himself in a heap on the floor once again.
He gets up okay though, and now it’s Carlos Baleba who drives through the Chelsea midfield.
The Man Utd target plays it into Minteh, but he’s marshalled out of play by Cucurella, who has been excellent so far.

35′ Estevao and Reece James are doubling up on Mitoma on the left-hand side of Brighton’s attack, and doing a good job of stopping him so far.
The Brazilian has got a great work ethic to him, and will no doubt be rampaging down the right again any moment now.
