Chelsea Files: Ambitious clause in Estevao’s Blues contract and the academy wonderkids making waves for England

EDEN HAZARD is returning to play FOR Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for the first time since he left the club in 2019.

The Belgian legend has been back since leaving, when Chelsea beat Real Madrid in the 2021 Champions League semi-final second leg, before going on to beat Manchester City in the final.

But now he will be playing in blue once more, as he takes part in the Chelsea Legends fixture against Liverpool on October 11th at Stamford Bridge, often nicknamed ‘The Garden of Eden’ after the great winger.

Hazard, of course, had many great moments against Liverpool, perhaps none more so than the iconic goal he scored at Anfield in the Carabao Cup, evading five players in red before smashing the ball past the goalkeeper and into the far post.

He will be joined by John Terry, Roberto Di Matteo, Ramires, Joe Cole, Katie Chapman, Carlo Cudicini, William Gallas, and Gemma Davison among others as the Blues look to get revenge on the Liverpool legends who beat them 2-0 at Anfield in March this year.

The contest will be raising funds for the Chelsea FC foundation and the Chelsea players’ trust.

RYAN HEIR

Ryan Kavuma-McQueen has been shining in the Blues’ academy setup so far this season, and today scored FOUR goals and got an assist, including a first-half hat-trick vs Germany for England‘s u17’s.

Of his goals, the pick of the bunch was his first, an absolute screamer from outside the box on his strong left foot, rifled into the top left corner.

Kavuma-McQueen is usually a left-sided winger, but has scored his four goals for England operating from the right, owing to the kind of versatility Enzo Maresca adores.

SunSport took a detailed look into the attacker after he outshone ex-Cobham starlet Rio Ngumoha in the youth leagues.

VAO FACTOR

ESTEVAO’S start to life in a Chelsea shirt has been nothing short of sensational.

The Brazilian winger has stolen the hearts of almost every fan that has come to see him play for the Blues, and is already dreaming of winning the Ballon d’Or.

He’s not the only one though, that believes he is capable of one day scooping football’s top individual prize as his former club cleverly included a ‘Ballon d’Or clause’ when he signed his lengthy contract at Stamford Bridge.

These kinds of clauses are not uncommon in the Premier League, and famous cases include Anthony Martial, Angel Di Maria and Bruno Fernandes at Man Utd – though none of those have been paid out…

Estevao has represented great value so far, with it looking likely Todd Boehly and co will have to cough up an additional £22m in performance related add-ons on top of the £29m they already paid for him.

If he does go on to win the Ballon d’Or before 2033, the total package Chelsea pay could be as much as £56million.

Still a bargain if he goes on to be just that good…

SHIMMY SHIMMY SHIMMY

MARC Guiu’s deadline day recall to Chelsea may well have been unnecessary after all.

That’s because there is already a number nine at Stamford Bridge, or Cobham rather, ready to make the step up.

Shim Mheuka’s undeniable talent is coming to the fore this season, as he has exploded into this campaign with eight goals in just six games so far.

That includes a hat-trick against Manchester City’s highly rated u21 side in the PL2, before grabbing a brace against Spain’s u19 setup in this international break and ANOTHER brace against the Netherlands in the very next match.

The young forward is going to be one to watch this season, especially with Maresca’s current injury issues.

The Italian boss has already shown his faith in Mheuka in the Conference League last season, and while games will be harder to come by this year, Marc Guiu being cup-tied in the League Cup may will give him a chance to shine.

The Blues will face Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup third round, where Mheuka may be given a chance in just two weeks time.

PILL TO WIN

PLAYER of the match awards are something Estevao is already used to.

However, they haven’t all been as ‘boring’ as the one he picked up after his stellar performance against West Ham in the Premier League.

Back in his time at Palmeiras, the starlet picked up an award in the form of a minion, from Disney’s Despicable Me movie – this was because the official trophy was sponsored by a betting company, and he was too young to promote it, so he was given the toy instead.

And has now added to his weird and wonderful collection with a ‘Pill’ POTM trophy for his performance against Chile last week.

WONDERKID MATCH-UPS

LAMINE Yamal‘s Barcelona will be at Stamford Bridge on 25th November, in what will be billed as a ‘battle of the wonderkids’ between him and Stamford Bridge sensation Estevao.

However, one Champions League match-up concerning two Chelsea wonderkids is going under the radar.

When Sporting CP host Kairat Almaty on 18th September, two future Chelsea stars will face off against each other on the biggest stage: 18-year-old Geovany Quenda and 17-year-old Dastan Satpaev.

Quenda’s side will be heavy favourites, after Satpaev’s Almaty team qualified via the play-offs at the death, beating Celtic in a penalty shoot-out.

That won’t be the only chance for Chelsea fans to get a glimpse of Satpaev either, as he will also face-off against Real Madrid and London rivals Arsenal in the competition.
