Chelsea agree transfer for Ecuadorian wonderkid following identical path to Kendry Paez

CHELSEA are signing Ecuador wonderkid Deinner Ordonez – in 2028.

The Blues have beaten off competition from Liverpool and other major European sides to agree a deal with Independente del Valle for centre back Ordonez, 16.

Chelsea have fostered a good relationship with Independente, the former club of current star Moises Caicedo, and it is paying dividends again.

In 2023, the Blues announced they would complete the signing of Kendry Paez, then 16, from Independente in 2025.

The playmaker duly arrived last summer before being loaned out to sister club Strasbourg.

Chelsea are making a policy of spotting young talent from around the world and moving fast to agree deals that kick in after the players turn 18 – the minimum age, under Fifa rules, for international transfers.

Stamford Bridge chiefs announced in the summer of 2024 they would be signing Estevao, then 17, from Palmeiras this year.

The Brazilian teenager has hit the ground running.

The Blues also have a deal in place for Sporting Lisbon winger Geovany Quenda, 18, to join them next summer.

Enzo Maresca already has the youngest squad in Premier League history and it seems it will only be getting younger.

Chelsea have another young centre-back in the pipeline too, having signed 20-year-old Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg before loaning him back to the French side.

Liam Rosenior’s men also boast talented Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders, 20.
