WITH the Easter weekend now upon us, many shoppers will be looking to stock up on chocolate eggs for their families.
Whether you’re on the hunt for Cadbury, Nestle or Lindt eggs, we have rounded up the best deals to ensure you are not spending more than you need to.

Supermarkets have been ramping up offers on eggs to give customers the chance to save in recent weeks.
For example, Asda shoppers can buy any large branded egg for £2.32 after prices were cut from £2.99.
Meanwhile, Heron Foods is selling M&M’s Mini Medium Eggs with a bag of M&M’s inside for just 99p.
Elsewhere, shoppers have been racing to B&M after spotting Cadbury’s Daim Eggs back on shelves for just £1.50.
The Easter treat made its return after the Christmas version, Dairy Milk Robins, was discontinued, leaving shoppers gutted.
Plus, Morrisons slashed the price of a number of its big packs of Cadbury chocolates to just 87p.
While these offers are often short-lived, they provide shoppers with an excellent opportunity to snag a bargain on Easter eggs just in time for the celebrations.
With this in mind, we’ve put together a guide on where to find the cheapest Easter eggs this week.
How to save money on chocolate
We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…
Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.
Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.
Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.
Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.
They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.
Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.
So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
Cadbury Creme Easter Egg 235g
This 235g egg comes with a two foil-wrapped mini eggs, alongside a hollow Cadbury egg.
Asda is currently the cheapest place to pick up this treat, charging £4.98.
Alternatively, it can be purchased at Sainsbury’s or Tesco for £5, provided you scan your Nectar card or Clubcard at checkout.
Those without a Nectar card will pay £6 at Sainsbury’s.
Cadbury Dairy Milk XL Chocolate Easter Egg with Caramel Bar 245g
This 245g egg comes with a 45g classic Dairy Milk bar and a caramel version, alongside a hollow Cadbury egg.
Again, Asda is currently the cheapest place to pick up this treat, charging £4.98.
The same chocolate egg is priced at £5 at both Sainsbury’s and Tesco, as long as shoppers scan their loyalty cards.
Cadbury Mini Eggs Easter Egg 193.5g
This 193.5g egg comes with a mini packets of Mini Eggs, alongside a hollow Cadbury egg.
Sainsbury’s appears to be the cheapest place to pick up this treat, charging £3.45 for those with a Nectar card and £4 for those without.
The same chocolate egg is priced at £4 at both Waitrose and Tesco.
However, it is currently out of stock on Tesco’s online store.
Maltesers Teasers Milk Chocolate Easter Egg 190g
This 190g egg comes with a two 35g Maltesers bars, alongside a hollow Nestle egg.
Sainsbury’s is currently the most budget-friendly option for this treat, pricing it at £3.45 for Nectar card holders and £4 for those without.
Similarly, Morrisons is offering the same egg for £4.
Milkybar White Chocolate Large Easter Egg 180g
This 180g egg comes with a mini packets of Milky Bar buttons, alongside a hollow white chocolate egg.
Asda is currently the cheapest place to pick up this treat, charging £2.32.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s is selling the same egg for £3.45 for Nectar card holders, or £4 for shoppers without a card.
Lindt Milk Chocolate Egg with Gold Bunny 195g
This 195g egg comes with a mini Lindt bunny, alongside a hollow milk chocolate egg.
Asda is currently the most affordable option for this treat, pricing it at £7.98.
Next on the list is Sainsbury’s, where it costs £8 for Nectar card holders and £12 for those shopping without one.
Meanwhile, Tesco offers the same item for £10, but only for shoppers with a Clubcard.
Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate XL Easter Egg with Milk Truffles 183g
This 183g egg comes with seven Lindor truffles, alongside a hollow milk chocolate egg.
Sainsbury’s is currently the best value for this treat, offering it at £7.50 for Nectar card holders, or £10 for shoppers without a card.
Asda follows closely, pricing the same egg at £7.98, while Tesco Clubcard holders can pick it up for £8.
Morrisons is the priciest option, charging £10 for the egg.
How to compare prices to get the best deal
JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.
There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.
Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.
Here are some that we recommend:
- Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
- Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
- Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
- CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.
