CHARLTON have issued an update on Conor Coady after he was knocked unconscious.
The former England star hit the ground after taking a ball to the face in the Addicks 1-1 draw with Watford.
Coady, 33, was left unconscious and rushed to hospital after being applauded off the pitch by both sets of fans.
Manager Nathan Jones confirmed that the defender-turned-midfielder was knocked out and went to get checked out.
Charlton have now released an update on the former Everton and Wolves ace.
The Championship outfit has confirmed that he has been given the “all-clear”.
Coacdy is able to leave the hospital without having to stay overnight.
A club statement read: “Conor Coady has been discharged from hospital following a head injury sustained in Monday’s 1-1 draw against Watford at Vicarage Road.
“The 33-year-old was knocked unconscious after being struck by a shot in stoppage time.
“He was stretchered off and taken to a local hospital, where he underwent a series of scans.
“Coady has since been given the all-clear and was discharged this evening.
“The club would like to thank Watford’s medical staff for their support and assistance.
“Charlton’s medical staff will continue to monitor him in line with the appropriate protocols.”
Sky Sports refused to show a replay of the sickening incident with it deemed inappropriate due to the severity of the injury.
The horror blow came at the start of six minutes of stoppage time in the Easter Monday clash.
Coady was down for nine minutes before being replaced by Macaulay Gillesphey on what was the 500th appearance of his club career.
Charlton had taken the lead and a huge step towards confirming their survival in the second division.
Matt Godden put them ahead after an hour only for Nestory Irankunda to equalise.
Play was stopped quickly by referee Andrew Kitchen after Coady was left on the floor in serious pain.
The match ended in a draw as Watford’s faint play-off hopes were dented and Charlton could not take a significant stride towards sealing safety.
Former Wolves, Everton, Leicester, Wrexham, and England centre-half Coady joined Charlton in January on loan.
He has since been a near-ever-present for Nathan Jones but this was his first start for three matches after dropping briefly to the bench.
