Chaos erupts in Minneapolis as agents fire tear gas and pepper balls at protesters after federal agents shoot and kill man

Federal agents were seen targeting protesters with tear gas and pepper balls in Minneapolis just hours after a man was shot dead on camera by a border patrol agent.

On Saturday, footage from an onlooker in Minneapolis showed a struggle between multiple ICE agents and a civilian.

The man was wrestled to the ground before one federal agent fired multiple shots into his chest.

The Department of Homeland Security told the Daily Mail that the suspect was armed with two magazines and the gun was later recovered by federal authorities.

Agents reportedly deployed tear gas as citizens gathered near Glam Doll Donuts at 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue, where the shooting took place.

City police are reportedly also at the scene to keep more than 100 observers and protestors separated from federal agents, reported the Star Tribune.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said there was an ‘unlawful assembly’ at the location of the shooting, reported the New York Times.

‘We urge everyone to remain peaceful,’ he said at a press conference Saturday.

‘We recognize that there is a lot of anger and a lot of questions around what has happened, but we need people to remain peaceful.’

A command post has been set up by local law enforcement at the ‘volatile scene.’

O’Hara urged residents to leave the area of the shooting.

‘We understand your frustration,’ he said.

O’Hara revealed the man was a 37-year-old resident of Minneapolis. He said the man had no past brushes with the law other than traffic violations and was believed to be a lawful gun owner.

The chaos came after a federal court suspended an order that restricted ICE agents’ ability to use tear gas or detain peaceful protestors.
