A CELEBRITY Traitors star was left gobsmacked after a brutal blindside betrayal in the finale following a banishment mistake.
The tense final saw millions of viewers tune in to find out who would scoop the crown of the first ever series of The Traitors’ spin-off show.
Fans tuned in on Thursday evening to watch the final five stars do battle one last time.
Discussions about who would be banished began when former rugby pro Joe Marler made a pact with Alan Carr and Cat Burns to vote off David Olusoga.
Joe was trying to keep the killer pair on side until the last minute before he would ‘pull the rug’, secretly convinced they were the Traitors.
After lengthy discussions at the round table Cat was eliminated in a 3-2 vote, with Joe writing her name down before saying: “I’m sorry Cat, but I’ve changed my mind, I hope I’m right.”

The remaining stars then had to decide who to banish next, with everyone – bar Alan – unsure how many Traitors were left.
Alan went all guns blazing on Joe, and he returned the favour, but then David also voted for Joe.
In a shock turn of events Nick Mohammed turned on Joe despite their previous strong alliance.
Nick admitted that Joe voting for Cat and that he apologised at the previous roundtable was what “sealed it”.
In earlier episodes Joe and Nick had made a pact to get Alan and Cat voted out of the final trusting of each other that they were faithfuls.
Joe was left absolutely blindsided by his close pal Nick and his mouth literally dropped open.
He was then seen shaking his head in disbelief before exiting the room, in his confessional he admitted: “I read it so wrong. It hurts. It hurts to be stabbed in the back last minute like that.”
“Not even an inkling. Gutted,” he added.
Fans were also just as shocked as Joe, taking to X one user said: “Can’t believe Nic turned on Joe at the death, My faith in humanity will never be restored.”
Next to a picture of Joe’s shocked face, another added: “I couldn’t believe it either @JoeMarler what were they thinking?”
“I’ve never seen such a perfect reaction to betrayal in my entire life. #CelebrityTraitors” penned a third.
A fourth wrote: “Honestly the logic Nick & David used doesn’t even make the slightest bit of sense. What possible reason would Joe have to turn on Cat if he was a traitor? He could’ve just Voted David and got another faithful out (crying laughing emoji).”
“One of my favourite moments purely because it’s insane this even happened when he was so right,” remarked another.
In the end it turned out that Joe was correct and it was comedian-turned-Traitor Alan Carr who took the Celebrity Traitors crown.
The Chatty Man has been the bookies’ favourite to win the show, after proving he had what it takes as a Traitor, having carried out two murders in plain sight during the series, no easy task.
In a glorious victory Alan won the £87,500 prize pot, which goes to a charity of his choice.
