TV presenter Carol Vorderman has revealed her ‘chronically debilitating’ diagnosis, a year after being forced to step back from the show.
The 64-year-old revealed the diagnosis while commenting on Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor’s Instagram post.
Sally, 62, shared a photo of herself getting a full body MRI, and penned to fans: “After my journey with Breast Cancer I’ve learned how powerful early detection is.
“Health isn’t something to take for granted. That’s why I chose the @ezrainc full body MRI and CT scan, a powerful radiation-free way to detect potential health issues early. Prevention can be lifesaving, catching problems before symptoms appear. The Ezra scan is about knowledge and peace of mind.”
The star could be seen in some blue pyjamas sat on the edge of the machine, while discussing her recent scan.
And it prompted Countdown star Carol to comment beneath the actress’ post, writing that she had been “struck with sudden and chronically debilitating rheumatoid arthritis.”

Carol wrote: “Morning Sally. I’ve done the same this year with a full body MRI and all clear thankfully.
“Having the special blood test for 70 cancers this week. Early detection where possible is now my mantra. The costs have come down dramatically for these services but they are sadly still a lot for most people.”
She then added: “I was struck with sudden and chronically debilitating rheumatoid arthritis almost a year ago and it’s taken a long time to get the meds right, so I no longer take my health for granted in any way xx
“Sending huge love and thanks 🙏🏼 to you for spreading the word and your honesty in all these matters. It helps no end of us mere mortals.”
Fans were quick to like Carol’s comment, and praised the TV star for her honesty.
And Sally responded: “So important as we get older. Sending love to you xxx”
In October, Carol revealed a fresh health scare and said she’s been “very poorly” after quitting her LBC Sunday radio show last year.
The 64-year-old made the announcement that she was leaving behind her job in October 2024 following an undisclosed “health scare”.
She told OK!: “This year has been a bit hellish health-wise.
“I’ve been very poorly, not related to the burnout but something entirely different.
“I’m on the right medications now, but it’s only in the last month or so that I felt I’ve got my mojo back. So watch out, world!”
The mum-of-two went on to say that she’s been spending time with friends and travelling to help pick her up and enjoy her new spare time.
Carol continued: “I’ve had lots of mini-breaks and holidays with friends — gay friends, female friends I’ve had for 50 years, or some I’ve known for 10.
“I’ve been back to horse racing, I’ve travelled to the States, to France, to everywhere, actually!
“Going back and seeing old friends has been wonderful. And the right friends, too. I think I’ve managed to drop all the bad ones. It’s easy to forget how much your old friends love you.
“I’ve had messages to say, ‘Oh, come and stay in our villa’, or ‘Come and visit us on our boat’. It’s lovely to be so loved, really.”
Last year, she took to Instagram to announce she was stepping down from her gig at LBC in order to put her health and wellbeing first.
