DREAM TEAM managers must remember to select a captain for Gameweek 32 before Saturday’s 1:30pm deadline.
Logic dictates that the best skipper is likely to come from the exclusive group of four clubs set to play twice: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Crystal Palace.
Bukayo Saka (£6.5m) has to be considered a strong contender given he averages 8.7 points-per-game this season, a rate only bettered by Mohamed Salah (£7.2m) and Erling Haaland (£7.8m) – more on Liverpool’s main man later.
Arsenal’s No7 missed a penalty against Real Madrid on Wednesday night but made up for it with a delightful finish in the second half.
The England winger could feast against relegation-bound Ipswich this weekend if given the chance but there’s a slight risk that Mikel Arteta continues to manage his star player’s workload following his recent hamstring injury.
Saka has made five appearances since his return but he’s yet to complete 90 minutes and with Arsenal surely prioritising the Champions League, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if his game time was limited against the Tractor Boys.
The North Londoners will host Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
And so perhaps it’s best to stick the armband on a Manchester City player?
Omar Marmoush (£4.8m) has banked 55 points in his last five outings via four goals.
The Egyptian star is virtually guaranteed to lead the line all the while Haaland is sidelined with injury.
Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Everton this weekend before hosting Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
That’s far from an ultra favourable double header but a swaggering 5-2 win over Palace last time out yielded plenty of points – Marmoush pouched 13 of them.
Aston Villa’s double header is tough on paper with a home game against high-flying Newcastle preceding a trip to the Etihad.
But the Villains are among the Premier League’s most in-form sides right now and gave PSG a scare in the week.
Predicting Unai Emery’s line-ups isn’t all that easy but Morgan Rogers (£4.5m) and Youri Tielemans (£4m) have been his most trusted lieutenants all season, while Marcus Rashford (£3.8m) has been favoured over Ollie Watkins (£4.6m) lately.
The latter has amassed 48 points across the last three Gameweeks.
Crystal Palace’s double shift of Bournemouth (h) and Arsenal (a) looked a lot more inviting before they were blown out of the water by Man City and Newcastle in Gameweek 31.
Eberechi Eze (£4.9m) would probably be the captain of choice but his tame penalty miss against the Magpies will have irked plenty of gaffers.
Away from the double headers, Leicester v Liverpool is a huge mismatch on paper.
Salah is without a goal in his last five games but there’s every chance he’ll end his mini drought against the Foxes on Sunday, a team with a goal difference of -45 this season.
The Reds don’t have a midweek fixture but if the prolific Egyptian bags a brace (or more) at the weekend then he will satisfy those who captain him.
Here at Dream Team HQ we always prefer players with two fixtures at their disposal but there’s no doubt Salah is a strong contender for Gameweek 32.
