QUEEN Camilla “feels very strongly” about the safety of abuse victims so King Charles would “no longer put up with Andrew’s shenanigans”, an expert claimed.
Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday evening that Andrew had been evicted from his 31-bedroom mansion amid mounting pressure.
The 65-year-old was booted from Royal Lodge and stripped of his Prince title as allegations regarding the Virginia Giuffre continue to swirl.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun how the Palace statement, which featured a message from “their majesties” hinted at Camilla’s possible involvement.
“I think that everybody that makes a statement about Andrew now has to mention they have full and great sympathies with the victims of abuse,” she said.
“And in this case, when it said, their majesties, I suppose people need to be reminded that Queen Camilla, is very active in the area of abused women, and it is one of her charities.
“She actually made a film about some of the women suffering from abuse who had to leave home and take their families with them, to set up lives in a shelter to start with.
“So, Camilla feels very strongly about this, and obviously, her opinion counts a great deal to the King, but this was a very, very important regal decision made by the King as head of state and as sovereign.
“He was no longer going to put up with his brother’s shenanigans about whether he was going to go or not go.
“He’d already offered him Frogmore Cottage, which Andrew refused and he has had to act decisively, because this story was detracting from the business of government, and the monarchy are very careful to try not to do that.”
Ms Seward added how stories concerning Andrew were overtaking the narrative that should surround the Monarchy.
The expert suggested Charles made the final decision with the help of advisors and his wife.
It is understood His Majesty has been battling to boot Andrew out for three years now.
The shamed ex-Duke was recently hit with another blow when it was announced he could be privately prosecuted amid Virginia Giuffre allegations.
Campaign group Republic said it has instructed lawyers to launch legal proceedings if there is “sufficient evidence” of wrongdoing.
The former Duke of York has always denied any wrongdoing and maintains he has never met Virginia.
Speaking of what could have been Charles’ “breaking point”, Ms Seward suggested it was a combination of factors.
“I think the catalyst was a lot of things happening at once. Andrew’s reluctance or willingness to move out voluntarily, all kinds of other problems were coming to light,” she said.
“And, there were going to be questions in Parliament, this group Republic wanted him to be answerable.
“There were too many things happening, and also, it was the general feeling of the nation, over which King Charles is the head, that they wanted an answer for Andrew.
BUCKINGHAM PALACE FULL STATEMENT
The full Palace statement read: “His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.
“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge had, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.
“Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.
“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.
“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
“They wanted him out of a royal property, they wanted him absolutely nothing to do with the taxpayer, so therefore he had to be off the Crown Estates.
“And as Andrew has shown very little remorse for all the problems he’s caused, he always says that he is innocent, so one has to remind people of that, but as he has shown very little remorse, in fact, no remorse at all.
“I think that he has really lost any kind of appeal that he might have heard.
And he’s actually endangering the good name of the monarchy.”
‘MISERABLE, HUMILIATED AND ASHAMED’
It is understood Andrew will now move to “alternative private accommodation” on the Sandringham estate.
Meanwhile ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 66, is said to be making her own housing arrangements.
The move was said to have been started by the King and supported by Prince William – while Andy is said to have accepted.
The shock removal process axes Andy’s titles Prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh and the style ‘His Royal Highness’.
He also loses his Order of the Garter and Knight Grand Cross of the Victorian Order.
Ms Seward said: “I’m sure Andrew feels utterly distraught, miserable, humiliated, ashamed. Well, hopefully he feels all those things. I’m sure that he does.
“And I think that he has no choice. He’s had to be metaphorically booted out of his own home, which isn’t a very pleasant thing to happen to anyone.
“His brother is going to provide him with a home, you know, in the privacy of a royal estate, where it’s absolutely nothing to do with anyone else. His brother will also have to pay for him for the rest of his life… and look after him.”
The expert said she hoped the former Prince would “learn some humility” and embark on the many charity commitments he previously boasted about – but have since never heard of.
All the titles Andrew is giving up
Andrew is giving up all his titles after discussions with the King and wider Royal Family.
They are:
- Duke of York
- Earl of Inverness
- Barony Killyleagh
- Prince
- Knight Grand Cross of the Victorian Order
He has also agreed to not use the honours given to him as a Royal Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter.
He will now just be called Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
On what Fergie will do next, Ms Seward claimed she would be supported by her daughters – who have kept their titles – and pals.
“I would imagine that Fergie’s always had a huge number of friends, and I’m sure her friends will be rallying around her now, when she will really, really need them,” said the expert.
“And she will, I’m sure, lean on them at this moment, and her two daughters will be supporting her as well.
“I think Fergie realizes she actually has to distance herself from Andrew, I would be very surprised if she doesn’t, and get on with her own life, instead of having it attached to him.
“Of course she feels a great deal of loyalty to him, especially in his hour of need, but I don’t think it’s going to help him, having her
around his neck as well.
“I think she needs to move away from it all, and give her children a chance to at least try and help their mother if they can’t help their father.”
UNITED FRONT
Insiders previously claimed Prince William had been dragged into the bitter housing row.
It was claimed he sought to put pressure on Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice to persuade their parents to quit Royal Lodge.
But Ms Seward said while the Prince may be “thinking in unison with his father”, the decision was “very much the hand of the King”.
“I think that the family will all stand together,” the expert continued.
“It doesn’t mean that Andrew won’t have supporters amongst the family. I think he’ll have a lot of sympathy from his family.
“But we are not going to see any evidence of that in the immediate future.”
‘A VERY HOLLOW VICTORY’
Virginia Giuffre’s family said, after the Buckingham Palace statement, she “brought down a British Prince” declaring “victory” over Andrew.
Her brother hailed his sister’s “extraordinary courage” and vowed to continue her battle until the “same accountability applies” to all of the abusers linked to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Giuffre, who took her own life earlier this year, repeatedly claimed she had sex with Andrew as a teenager – something the ex-Duke has continuously denied.
But Ms Seward dubbed it “a holly victory” and spoke more of “a terrible tragedy”.
“I don’t think you could apply the word victory for Virginia, as her brother did, because the awful thing is that Virginia killed herself over this whole scandal, so there is no such thing as victory in that,” she continued.
“It’s tragic. I don’t see a victory for anyone, I think the whole thing is a terrible tragedy for everyone concerned, especially those victims, and this is not the way you want to see a victory.
“I feel probably the less said, the better. I don’t think it’s a good moment to crow about victory when the person that really suffered is no longer with us because of the life that she had.
“I suppose, in a sense, it’s a victory, but I think it’s a very hollow victory, and I wouldn’t use that word.”
Ms Giuffre, who took her own life in April, has alleged she was trafficked to have sex with Andrew on three occasions.
The former Duke of York has always denied any wrongdoing and maintains he has never met Virginia.
Despite insisting he had never met Virginia, the former duke paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault case with her in 2022.
And in the latest blow for Andy, Republic says it has instructed lawyers to launch legal proceedings if there is “sufficient evidence” of wrongdoing.
Graham Smith, the group’s CEO told Sky News that justice “must be seen to be done”.
He said: “If not us, then who? It’s a devastating indictment on the UK’s criminal justice system… that we must resort to a private prosecution.
“Equality in law is a basic tenet of democracy. I firmly believe there is strong enough evidence to justify a serious investigation.
“The truth must prevail and justice must be seen to be done.”
Cops are also set to investigate claims that royal protection officers obstructed lawyers trying to deliver legal papers to Andrew.
