THE FBI under Joe Biden has been accused of sitting on evidence linked to the Washington DC pipe bomb case sparking Republican fury that the initial investigation was covered up.
Brian Cole, 30, was arrested on Thursday – almost five years after he allegedly planted the explosives in the city on the eve of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots.
It marked a major breakthrough in what had become a cold case.
Trump’s team has wasted no time in attacking Joe Biden, who assumed the presidency just weeks after the devices were planted.
Pam Bondi, the US Attorney General, said investigators combed through evidence that was already on Biden’s desk.
“What I will tell you is that evidence has been sitting there collecting dust,” she said.
“This wasn’t a new tip. It wasn’t some new evidence.”
In 2024, Dan Bongino, who is now the FBI Deputy Director, touted theories linked to an alleged cover-up.
“There is a massive cover-up, because the person who planted those pipe bombs—they don’t want you to know who it was, because it’s either a connected anti-Trump insider, or this was an inside job,” he told Fox News at the time..
“Those bombs were planted there. This was a set up. I have zero doubt.”
Kash Patel, the FBI director, also vowed to uncover the truth.
“What you’re gonna see is as this case presents itself in court, you’re going to see where we were able to collect the evidence and make the case against [Cole] and then common sense journalists and investigators are going to be able to look at it and wonder why these people didn’t do X, Y, and Z years ago,” he told Donald Trump Jr on his podcast.
Patel also revealed the agency combed through more than three million lines of data.
And, they scrutinized evidence that had already been collected.
Patel claimed the Biden administration refused and failed to do that.
Benny Johnson, a MAGA influencer, has claimed the plot was the “biggest FBI cover-up in history.”
And, a congressional report revealed Biden’s team started shifting resources away from the probe weeks after he entered office.
Cole has been charged with transporting an explosive device in commerce, and attempted malicious destruction by means of explosive materials.
His motive still remains a mystery, but sources told MS NOW he made a series of statements that could be linked to an anarchist ideology.
Court documents, seen by The U.S. Sun, revealed Cole made a series of chilling purchases in the months before he allegedly planted the pipe bombs.
He bought galvanized pipes from two Home Depot stores in Virginia between June and November 2020.
He also purchased several black end caps from four Home Depot stores between October 2019 and November 2020.
Cole also bought battery connectors, electrical wire, and steel wool, according to the court docs.
He bought bomb-making materials after allegedly planting the explosives, as per the court filing.
This included batteries from Walmart, alligator clips, and a kitchen timer.
The devices were planted minutes apart on January 5, 2021.
One was dropped near the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington DC at around 7:54pm local time.
Cole then allegedly planted a second device outside the Republican National Committee headquarters at 8:16pm.
The devices were not found until 15 hours later.
The FBI released surveillance footage of a shadowy masked figure wearing a hoodie.
A Department of Homeland Security report released last year stated that Kamala Harris, who was vice president-elect, came within 20 feet of the pipe bomb at the DNC base.
The device was found around one hour and 40 minutes after Harris’ arrival.
Scores of MAGA supporters stormed the Capitol building in a bid to stop lawmakers from verifying the results of the 2020 presidential election.
