One savvy mum has sparked a debate about whether Poundland could give Primark a run for its money when it comes to affordable essentials.

Kelly, who shares budgeting tips on TikTok under the username ‘kellybudgetingandfamily,’ recently posted a video to her 16.1k followers, showing how she managed to grab several items for less than £10 during a trip to the discount retailer.

Kelly, who usually shops at Primark for her daughter’s essentials, explained that her work location meant she couldn’t easily access the high street favourite.

Instead, she decided to check out Poundland while picking up snacks and was surprised by what she found.

She managed to pick up a range of items, including a pack of socks for £2, which she said were cheaper than similar ones she had recently seen at Primark

She also grabbed a pack of five briefs for £2 and another pack of three shorts-style underwear for £3, all of which she thought were excellent value for money.

One of her standout finds was a pair of Snow White-themed sliders, which had been reduced to £1.50.

Kelly said she would have happily paid full price for them but couldn’t resist snapping them up at such a bargain.

Her final purchase was a hat for her daughter, which she was thrilled to discover was just 50p.

In total, she spent £9 on the haul, which she has been “really impressed with what I got for the price.”

Kelly added in the caption section that Poundland will “definitely be somewhere I look in the future for myself and the kids.”

Within one day of being uploaded, Kelly’s video gained 33.3k views as many other TikTokers rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “PepCo is my go to, I find it cheaper or on par with Primark but better quality.

A second added: “A few weeks ago mine had a huge sale where most stuff was under £3! I got loads of summer dresses for £1 for her to wear at the nursery!”

And a third commented: “I got so many of my sons clothes from Poundland they’re so nice and so cheap too.”
