Bruno Fernandes makes decision on Man Utd future with Red Devils ready to sign at least two new midfielders

BRUNO FERNANDES is planning to see out the season with Manchester United despite the recent upheaval at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese skipper was reported to be considering his future following the dismissal of his countryman Ruben Amorim earlier this month.

He also did an interview in his homeland in December saying he knew the club had wanted him to leave last summer.

That all added to the feeling he could look to move on during the January transfer window with clubs in Saudi Arabia ready to pounce.

However it is understood the 31-year-old is sticking to his original plan to consider his options at the end of the campaign.

There is certain to be interest from Saudi again after the World Cup but Fernandes is expected to weigh up options in Europe as well.

Fernandes started both games under interim boss Darren Fletcher after recovering from an injury that kept him out of the Christmas and New Year schedule.

Meanwhile, United are growing increasingly confident of securing Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba in the summer window.

The Red Devils are unlikely to reinforce their squad in the January window under interim gaffer Michael Carrick, who will be in the dugout for the club’s final 17 games of the campaign.

But, according to well-placed sources, United are optimistic about prising Baleba away from the Amex in the summer.

The 22-year-old central midfielder is tied to Brighton until 2028 but his stock has dropped since United’s interest surfaced last year.

United are prepared to bring in more than one midfielder in the summer, with three other Prem stars shortlisted.

The club are interested in Nottingham Forest general Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace and Alex Scott at Bournemouth.
