Brits are backing calls to crackdown on ‘headphone dodgers’ as a poll reveals over half of people would like to see those blaring music aloud fined £1,000.
A poll commissioned by YouGov surveyed 6,815 Britons across the nation to deduce whether they supported calls for headphone dodgers to be fines.
It comes as the Liberal Democrats called for stricter measures when it comes to commuters playing music out loud on public transport.
Claiming most passengers are too frightened to speak out, the party encouraged the Government to ban such behaviour by amending the Bus Services Bill.
This legislation is currently making its way through Parliament, and whilst it does the Liberal Democrats allege they are advocating for the ‘quiet majority’.
Now, a YouGov poll suggest 62 per cent ‘strongly support’ or ‘somewhat support’ the proposals put forward by the party.
Only nine per cent of respondents claimed they ‘didn’t know’, while over a quarter said they ‘somewhat opposed’ or ‘strongly oppose[d]’ the crackdown.
Videos that previously emerged online also suggest that music being blared publicly has been an ever-growing gripe for people dotted across the nation.

Videos have emerged in the last year of people dotted across the country calling out those who blare out music in public, including Mariah Smith

Elseewhere Charlotte Hooks also took to social media to share her gripe with another unidentified passenger for blaring music out loud
Mariah Smith, who lives in London but is originally from Australia, aired her frustration with commuters blasting their music – especially in the capital city.
‘Why do people on the f***ing train play music out loud, I just don’t understand,’ she told her TikTok following of nearly 4,000.
‘It happens so much in London, you’re on a busy train and it’s always a guy. Sir you’re iPhone or your Android comes with headphones. What are you doing?’
Describing it as ‘disgustingly obnoxious’, she quipped: ‘It shouldn’t bother me as much as it does honestly.’
But she isn’t alone, as Charlotte Hooks, 22, also took to the social media platform to share her annoyance about another passenger who could be heard blaring music on a speaker for everyone to hear.
‘Why do people listen to music on speakers in public like what’s won with you, we all do not want to hear your music,’ she penned.
A young man, who goes by JD Hayes, also made it known that the social faux pas irritated him too.

‘Nothing more I hate than people who play music out loud ont he bus,’ he quipped: ‘We’re on the arrive no one is a***d you are listening to Drake,’ JD Hayes wrote (stock image)

The Bus Services Bill will see an overhaul of services across the nation, in a bid to improve living standards.
It is also designed to ameliorate safety for both passengers and staff against anti-social behaviour by introducing training for drivers.
However the Liberal Democrats want the Government to take the Bill one step further, by tweaking it to include passengers blaring music in public.
They also want to see adjustment to railway by-laws which would see the same rules banning loud volumes from devices implemented on trains.
A poll commissioned by the Liberal Democrats found that nearly four in 10 people had their journey soured by videos or music played by others on public transport.

‘Time and time again, I hear from people who say they feel too intimidated to speak up when someone is blasting music or other content from a phone or speaker,’ says party spokesperson Lisa Smart (pictured)
The research also deduced that over half of Brits didn’t feel comfortable in asking a fellow commuter to turn down the volume.
Liberal Democrat spokeswoman Lisa Smart said: ‘Far too many people dread their daily commute because of the blight of antisocial behaviour — and headphone dodgers playing loud music on buses and trains are some of the worst offenders.’

‘It’s time to take a stand for the quiet majority who just want to get from A to B in peace.’
