A BRITISH brewery company has officially collapsed into administration, with over £2 million owed to creditors.
The news comes just weeks after a bar run by the firm permanently pulled the shutters.
Recent documents have confirmed that Phantom Brewing Company entered administration last week.
The firm previously operated Echoes bar in Gardiner Place, Henley-on-Thames before shutting it down on 23 December, 2025.
Phantom Brewing Company’s taproom in its home town of Reading is also set to close down.
Documents have revealed the company’s debts, which total to £2.289 million owed to creditors.
David Rubin and David Birne, from the insolvency firm Begbies Traynor, were appointed to manage the situation on December 23, according to The Gazette.
“As many of you know, we had already been planning the next chapter for Phantom, including a relocation to a new production facility,” Phantom said in an Instagram post.
“We will now be focusing on this as a priority. With that in mind, we’ll be entering an extended shutdown this winter whilst we finalise this transition and prepare for a future relaunch from a new home.”
The statement continued: “As we will be unable to continue production during this time, we will be closing our taproom in Reading and Echoes, as well as pausing all trade sales until further notice.”
The firm added that it is set to “undergo a period of restructuring to ensure the appropriate foundations are in place for the next phase”.
Echoes bar first opened to the public in October 2023, marking the brewery’s first step outside of the industry.
