Hock & War
IS Britain’s economy prepared for the biggest energy shock in more than 50 years?
Certainly, the OECD doesn’t think so and says the UK will be hit hardest of all the G7 nations.

Inflation is set to peak at four per cent — twice the Bank of England’s target.
Only the US will suffer higher price rises if the war is prolonged further.
Britain’s tax burden is also so massive that economic growth has been downgraded to just 0.7 per cent this year.
A full blown recession could be on the way as unemployment hits a five-year high and businesses go bust.

Our economic situation is uniquely bad thanks, in large part, to the blind ideology of one man.
Ed Miliband’s Net Zero taxes are driving up energy costs for homes and business far beyond those in other countries.
The boss of M&S, Stuart Machin, says Government-imposed levies now account for more than half of his company’s energy costs.
As he rightly points out, NONE of this has anything to do with the price of oil and gas.
This self-inflicted and unnecessary eco madness — coupled with a suicidally heavy reliance on imported energy — means rising prices in supermarkets, bigger bills and higher mortgage costs.
Laughably, Miliband received glowing tributes this week from those on the Left desperate to impose their dangerous brand of socialism on this country.
It led to economic meltdown in the 1970s.
We simply cannot afford to go down that road again.
Chariots of ire
THE sight of Algerian Imane Khelif — who has male chromosomes — battering female opponents in the Olympic boxing ring two years ago terrified fans.
Khelif’s participation robbed women of a fair crack at the gold medal and left them horribly exposed to the potential for serious risk of injury or even death.
Yesterday’s ruling from the Olympic committee that transgender athletes can no longer compete against females is long overdue common sense.
As is mandatory sex testing for those, like Khelif, who deny being transgender but benefit from high testosterone levels.
Indeed, it’s been an affront to decency for years to watch athletes born with male biological advantages trampling over women fighting for equal treatment.
Now that the IOC has taken this decision let’s hope women in ALL sports will be protected from men stealing their glory.
Bored of fraud
TAXPAYERS are losing up to £81BILLION in fraud and Government error every year.
Much of the money disappears because civil service IT systems are grossly inadequate or officials simply don’t care enough to try to get the cash back.
What a shocking waste of money for a country apparently struggling to pay for defence at a time of war.
