Brit holidaymaker shocked to discover where awful smell was coming from on Ryanair flight – forcing her to confront culprit

Air travel can be stressful enough at the best of times – from the chaos of airport security to endless queues and unexpected delays.

When you finally sink into your seat, ready to switch off and start your holiday, the last thing you want is a nasty surprise.

One Ryanair passenger discovered this the hard way after she was forced to endure a nauseating scent throughout her four-hour flight to Spain.

Sophie Brame was flying from Manchester to Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands, on August 19 when she noticed an unpleasant smell an hour into the journey.

Curious, and a little concerned, the 27-year-old looked down to investigate –  and was horrified by what she saw.

She discovered a fellow passenger had made themselves a little too comfortable and decided to ditch their shoes mid-flight.

Describing the odour as ‘cheesy’, she snapped pictures of the passenger poking his feet through her footwell.

Taking to TikTok, Sophie expressed her disgust and shamed the ‘smelly’ passenger by posting a video that zoomed into the feet, as a caption read: ‘For the first half of the flight I kept smelling something awful.’

In an accompanying caption, she added: ‘If you’re gonna take your shoes off on a flight the least you can do is wash them first.’

In a bid to ward off the offending scent, Sophie admitted she was even forced to ‘accidentally’ stand on the passenger’s toes.

In the comments, one person wrote: ‘That is gross! People are so unaware sometimes.’

Another said, ‘Sorry but that should be a criminal offence,’ while another recounted: ‘Somebody did this to me with no socks on blocking the window I was sitting next to with their smelly feet.’

It’s not the first time a stench has caused problems on a flight.

Earlier this year a plane passenger accused a woman of ruining their journey with her bad-smelling feet.

The traveller filmed the woman sticking her feet through the gap between the seat and the plane wall and resting them on the armrest of the person in front.

The upset passenger said: ‘I was sleeping and was woken up by the smell.

‘I couldn’t call a flight attendant immediately because it was during departure, but I pressed the call button mid-flight.

A flight attendant has also shared a smelly passenger issue that she thinks should be illegal.

Posting on TikTok, cabin crew member Cher (@cherdallas), says she thinks tourists should ‘go to prison’ for breaking one key etiquette rule on their flight.

According to Cher, passengers who don’t shower before they get on the plane are the worst kind of traveller.

She moans: ‘There is zero reason that I should be smelling a stranger’s body odour radiating off of their warm body at 5 o’clock in the morning.
