NEWCASTLE UNITED chiefs will reach out to the family of the mascot who went viral after being left standing alone at Anfield.
Fans were left stunned after a young girl appeared to be ignored by Newcastle’s players before kick-off in Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Liverpool.
The clip soon circulated on social media showing the child stood looking confused and lost in the centre circle by herself.
Club officials were not aware of the incident until the footage went viral.
But SunSport understands that they are now keen to put things right.
They are set to look into exactly what happened after she accompanied skipper Kieran Trippier out onto the pitch and will reach out to her family to try and rectify the situation.
The footage showed the girl mascot standing behind the Toon players as they jogged away to remove their tracksuit jackets and begin the warm-up.
She then looked completely confused as she wandered alone to the centre circle, hands in pockets and looking awkwardly around for reassurance or instructions of what to do.
A Liverpool staff member is seen appearing to encourage her to go over to the Newcastle players as they got their final instructions over near the touchline, though she looked hesitant to do so.
It remains unclear what happened after the Newcastle team moved back into shot as the video fails to show that.

However, Sun Sport understands that the girl was brought over to the Newcastle bench by a member of staff at Anfield, where she shook hands and briefly spoke with Mags boss Eddie Howe.
Fans voiced their sympathy for the mascot, with one saying: “God gonna mute this post now don’t even wanna see the video back breaks my bloody heart, look at her going over to the Liverpool cameraman 😢”
Another added: “Shocking. Hope the club can sort something out for her.”
And a third wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking to see.”
