Boy, 18, appears in court accused of murdering his mother, 45, after her body was found by walkers

An 18-year-old boy appeared in court accused of murdering his mother after her body was found by walkers.

Angela Shellis, 45, was discovered in the Morfa area of Prestatyn, North Wales, on Friday.

Her son Tristan Thomas Roberts was remanded in custody by magistrates at Llandudno.

He will appear before Mold Crown Court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

Prosecutor Julia Galston said Ms Roberts had ‘vulnerabilities.’

Tributes on social media described the mum as ‘kind and lovely’ and a ‘beautiful soul’.

Defence solicitor Dafydd Roberts said: ‘There’s no application for bail that could be made because of the nature of the charge against the defendant.’

Investigating officers have appealed for information that may assist their inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Gibson of North Wales police said: ‘An 18-year-old male has now been charged with murder, following his arrest last week.

‘I would emphasise that this remains a live murder investigation, and that we continue to appeal for information that might further assist us.

‘Anyone who was in or around the Morfa area, near to the football fields, on Friday 24th October between 3am and 8.30am should contact us via 101, if they have not already done so.

‘It remains imperative that we identify any persons in the area during these key times.’
