Boy, 15, is arrested on suspicion of murder after teenager was stabbed to death in ‘disturbance involving a number of people’

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was stabbed to death in a ‘disturbance involving a number of people’ in Manchester. 

The victim, also 15, was found with stab wounds after the incident on Monton Street, Moss Side, shortly after 4.30pm on Monday.

He was treated at the scene and in hospital before tragically being pronounced dead, Greater Manchester Police said.

Police launched an investigation and confirmed that a 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder. 

He remains in custody for questioning.   

The victim’s family have been made aware of the arrest and are being supported by specially trained officers. 

Police have put a section 60 in place until 5.20pm on Tuesday, which allows officers to stop and search people in the surrounding area. 

Earlier, Chief Superintendent David Meeney from the City of Manchester district said: ‘There is a thorough investigation plan in place as we look to find the perpetrator of this appalling act that has seen a young man lose his life.’
