BOXER Anthony Holloway had to be stretchered out of the ring after collapsing to the canvas in his clash with Chev Clarke.
The journeyman cruiserweight locked horns with the former British champion on the undercard of Diego Pacheco’s super-middleweight clash with Kevin Sadjo early on Sunday morning.
Holloway started well, but Clarke began to show his class in the third round, which prompted the American to clinch excessively.
The 32-year-old’s legs went in the fourth round and he desperately tried to clinch for dear life.
His desperation resulted in the referee rightly deducting him a point.
Holloway cut an exhausted figure as he attempted to make his way back to the corner after the bell.
But he worryingly collapsed to the canvas after getting on his stool.
Holloway’s team immediately rushed to his aid, as well as the ringside medics.
He was given oxygen by the medical staff before being taken out of the ring by a stretcher.
Thankfully, Holloway was conscious when he was being administered the oxygen.
Boxing Scene reporter Francisco Salazar relayed the news of Holloway being awake before he was stretchered out of the ring and given more medical treatment.
He wrote on X: “Hollaway’s eyes were open and he was being given oxygen.
“Crowd here in Stockton with the polite and courteous applause as he’s wheeled out of the arena on a gurney.
“Sending positive vibes and hope Anthony Hollaway gets well soon.”
Hours after the scary incident, the news fight fans were all hoping to hear was revealed by Clarke.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympian posted a picture of himself and Holloway outside the Adventist Health Arena in Stockton to his X account.
Along with a snap of himself and Holloway embracing, he wrote: “He good.”
