Bombshell twist in case of married teacher who fell pregnant to 13-year-old boy – as his friends reveal the red flags in his behaviour

A married music teacher ‘had plans’ to run away with a schoolboy who impregnated her, it can be revealed, as sources close to the family say her husband was blindsided by the baby’s paternity.

Naomi Tekea Craig, 33, was working at an Anglican school in Mandurah, about an hour south of Perth, when she spent more than a year sexually abusing the boy.

The abuse began when he was 12-years-old and ended after his 13th birthday in December, just before she was arrested and charged with child abuse-linked offences. It was also just weeks before she gave birth to a baby on January 8.

Craig pleaded guilty to 15 offences in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The Daily Mail can now reveal Craig’s husband spent almost the whole pregnancy assuming the baby was his, indicating she had been abusing the boy while still maintaining her marital sex life.

Those close to the family confirmed Craig’s husband referred to the unborn infant as ‘our baby’ in late December.

He told one person: ‘Our baby is due in two weeks.’

School students around Mandurah, even now, are saying the victim still plans to run away with Craig, ‘once her sentence is up’.

Craig will be sentenced in the District Court at a later date and she could be looking at a lengthy stint behind bars, with those who commit sexual offences against children able to be sentenced to up to 20 years in WA.

Due to the nature of her crimes, she could also end up on the state’s sex offender registry, which would require her to inform police of her whereabouts.

Before the victim was sexually assaulted in October 2024, he was living an ordinary life hanging out with his mates and playing weekend sport.

But his friends say his behaviour shifted within a matter of months.

Those closest to him noticed concerning changes, with the once easy-going student getting into trouble both in and out of school.

‘He started talking about sexual things a lot,’ one friend told Daily Mail.

‘He’d say really inappropriate things that he had done.’

Another said: ‘He became a troublemaker.’

The same shift in his behaviour appeared online.

His social media – once filled with posts about cars, camping trips and school pranks – took an abrupt turn with an increasing focus on adult themes.

He referenced ‘older girlfriends’, and posted sexually suggestive content often referring to blondes.

One post, shared months before Craig’s arrest, read: ‘Your honour, you’re never supposed to ask a woman her age. Case dismissed.’

By September 2025, Craig was five months pregnant and the tone of the teenager’s posts shifted again – this time, he focused on content about marriage, fatherhood and the kind of dad he hoped to be.

Just weeks before Craig gave birth, he said there was ‘no DNA test needed’ to determine the child’s paternity.

In court, Magistrate Clare Cullen read the charges aloud, which included multiple counts of penetration of a child under 13, and after his birthday, sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16.

Further charges included additional counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13, and possessing child exploitation material.

Twelve of the incidents took place in the Mandurah suburb of Silver Sands, and three took place nearby in Meadow Springs.

Later on Tuesday, Craig’s husband broke cover and dropped their older son off at her parents’ home.

Craig is prohibited from seeing anyone under 18, including her eldest child, without supervision, with her newborn the only exception to the strict court order.

Her matter will be mentioned in the District Court on March 27.
