Body is found in the sea in the hunt for Mick Jagger’s granddaughter’s missing partner

A body has been found in the sea in the hunt for Mick Jagger‘s granddaughter’s missing partner.

Officers and HM Coastguard were called around 6:30pm yesterday after the body of a man was discovered in the sea at Bude. Sadly, he was deceased at the scene.

Formal identification is yet to be carried out but officers believe the person to be 37-year-old Alexander Key who was reported missing on 24 January.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Mr Key, a chef and father of two, is the partner of Assisi Jackson, 33, the granddaughter of Mick Jagger. The couple share two daughters.

He was last seen on Friday 24 January at the Cobweb Inn pub in Boscastle, Cornwall, where he was spotted sitting alone. At the time, he was wearing a black hooded top underneath a red stripy jumper.

CCTV footage later showed him again at 3.25pm the following day, walking past the Wellington Pub on Old Road, heading in the direction of Boscastle Harbour and the River Valency.

Mr Key was reported missing last Saturday evening, prompting Devon and Cornwall Police to launch an urgent search after officers became ‘increasingly concerned’ for his welfare.

Further CCTV images from Saturday showed him still wearing the distinctive red top, along with a blue anorak or waterproof jacket and black trainers.

Search efforts were hampered by severe weather conditions, with the area battered by Storm Ingrid on Friday and Saturday, followed by Storm Chandra earlier in the week.

Footage released by the Cobweb Inn showed Mr Key seated inside the pub, before a second image captured him walking outside around an hour later. The pub appealed for information at the time, saying: ‘His family are so worried.’

Assisi’s mother, jewellery designer Jade Jagger, shared the initial police appeal on social media, posting images of Mr Key on Instagram in an effort to help trace his whereabouts.

Police described him as 5ft 8in tall, of medium build, with distinctive bright peroxide blonde hair, and said he was usually seen wearing brightly coloured clothing. In images shared by Jade, Mr Key was pictured wearing a striking orange patterned jacket.

Boscastle, a picturesque coastal village known for its dramatic harbour and cliff-top walks, attracts visitors throughout the year but can be particularly dangerous during winter months due to rough seas and unpredictable weather.

Assisi is the eldest grandchild of Mick Jagger and the daughter of Jade Jagger and her former partner, artist Piers Jackson.

She and Mr Key lived in Cornwall, where they were raising their daughters, Ezra, 11, and Romy, six.

Mr Key was a co-owner of The Rocket Store, a popular seafood restaurant in Boscastle, which he ran alongside head chef Freddie Woodruff.

The restaurant is known for its use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including fish caught daily by Mr Key’s father and meat from the family farm. Its interior also features a large painting of a star constellation by Assisi’s father, Piers.

Jade Jagger was pregnant with Assisi’s half-brother, Ray Emmanuel Fillary, at the same time Assisi was expecting her first child.

Jade gave birth just weeks after her granddaughter Ezra was born in May 2014, making her both a mother and grandmother within weeks of each other.

Prior to the discovery, police urged anyone who had seen Mr Key or had information about his whereabouts to contact them immediately on 999, quoting log number 847 of 24/1/26.

Mr Key’s family have since thanked police and HM Coastguard for their efforts, as well as all those who assisted in the search. They have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.
