BOOB jobs remain the number one cosmetic surgery in the UK – but some celebrities have experienced the dark side of this popular operation.
From a TV personality who felt like she was left with “32E watermelons” to a reality icon who “looked like she’d been attacked by animal”, stars have bravely confessed their regret. Here we reveal their darkest tales from going under the knife.
More than 5,000 boob job operations took place in Britain last year.
But, as these celebrities reveal – with their tales of chronic pain and botched results – sometimes it’s chest not worth it.
Victoria Beckham
For years, Victoria Beckham denied her boob job, and only admitted it when she’d already had the implants taken out.
The Spice Girl is thought to have gone under the knife after the birth of her first son Brooklyn in 1999, boosting her bust from a 34A to a 34DD.
At the time, Posh, now 51, denied the rumours, insisting she was “completely natural, except for my fingernails” and claiming her enhanced cleavage was down to push-up bras.
But in 2011, the mum-of-four told Allure: “I don’t have them anymore,” and added to Vogue: “No torpedo bazookas, either. Gone”.
In a letter penned to her 18-year-old self for Vogue, the former singer and mother-of-four spoke candidly about her cosmetic surgery, saying: “All those years I denied it – stupid. A sign of insecurity. Just celebrate what you’ve got.”
Danielle Lloyd
Model Danielle Lloyd has revealed her deep regret at ever getting cosmetic surgery and admits, “I’ve learned my lesson.”
However, the former Miss England, now 41, was left fighting for her life when a breast implant exploded while she was on the operating table.
Speaking about the terrifying moment her implant ruptured previously, Danielle said: “I had a massive blood clot in my chest and almost died. I lost six pints of blood. It was serious.”
Danielle, who first went from a natural A cup to a 32D aged 21, and then to 32DD in 2007, and then to an F-cup in 2012, spoke about her regret at going under the knife.
And fans will recall Danielle went under the knife again in Celebrity Botched Up Bodies in 2017 to correct her boobs, which had become misshapen from years of operations.
The mum-of-five told the Daily Star: “I wish I’d never touched my body. I’ve had implants put back in, but they’re still not right. I’ve learned my lesson now.
“I nearly died on the operating table. I had a blood clot and lost six pints of blood – you only have 12 in your body.
“That was a shock to the system. It was really f***ing scary. My kids could have been left without a mum.”
Marnie Simpson
Marnie Simpson has been open about being a fan of plastic surgery, having had at least two nose jobs, two boob jobs as well as lip fillers, bum-filler injections and liposuction among other non-surgical procedures.
However, it hasn’t all been plain-sailing.
After joining Geordie Shore, trolls left her feeling insecure about her body and she decided to have a breast lift and change her nipples – however she didn’t anticipate the shock scarring.
Opening up on Channel 5‘s Celebrity Botched Up Bodies, Marnie, now 33, said: “I had big wounds which were oozing.

“They were oozing green pus and they were just like really deep gashes. It looked like I had been attacked by an animal.”
Marnie, who has three kids – Rox, Oax and Kixee Moon Johnson – with husband Casey Johnson, admitted that she started having surgery too young.
She said: “When you’re like 20 you don’t really know who you are so surgery is too risky. You change your mind every week at that age.”
Olivia Attwood
Olivia Attwood is outspoken and transparent, and isn’t afraid to let fans know about her cosmetic tweakments – and her regrets.
The former Love Island star, 34, who is estimated to be worth at least £2million from her numerous TV shows, has had two boob jobs, surgery on her lips and under eyes as well as multiple injectables.
When she was 20 years old, the TV presenter paid £3,000 for a boob job that gave her 32E “watermelons,” which she thought were disproportionate to her frame.
She claimed her body was aching from the weight of them and put people off their dinner.
To make her feel less “uncomfortable”, Olivia spent around £10,000 to have her large implants downsized to 32DD implants.
Laura Anderson
When Love Island’s Laura Anderson appeared in the 2018 villa she turned heads with her blonde hair, busty figure and glowing tan.
However, Laura – like three in four women – was unhappy about one part of her body – her boobs.
When she was 18, before she entered the villa, Laura had got a loan behind her parents back and had a boob job to take her chest from a 32B to a 32DD – but hated the large size.
“I was desperate to be a glamour model like Lucy Pinder as that was the thing back then. I wanted to be sexy and models were sexy.
“I regretted it as soon as I came out of surgery – when I woke up I just cried.
“I’d asked the surgeon for the C cup implants but they’d put in the bigger ones and said it’d ‘save me cash in the long run as they knew I’d want them done again’ but I hated them as soon as I saw them, they were massive.”
Although the ex-air hostess, 36, admitted she wasn’t sure if she would have got cast for Love Island without her large chest, in March 2019, after struggling with shooting pains in her left boob, Laura decided to go under the knife again to have her implants changed.

But despite Laura, currently dating Scots footballer Clark Robertson, putting herself through gruelling surgery again – she’s still not happy with them.
She told Fabulous: “When I came around I felt quite disheartened again. They’re still so big and I have these huge red scars which I don’t think will go.
“All I want is 18-year-old Laura’s boobs back before surgery, but I know that is impossible.
“Having no implants and to be natural is honestly the person I feel inside but I’ll never get that back.”
Anna Vakili
Another Love Island star to have “boob job regret” is Anna Vakili.
The 35-year-old reality star, who first shot to fame when she appeared on our screens back in 2019, also claimed she is “scarred for life” after going under the knife.
On a recent episode of their podcast, Sisters In The City, Anna, who had her first breast enlargement over 10 years ago, admitted to “ruining” her once “perfect” boobs.
The brunette beauty who paid around £5,000 for her boob job, previously told The Sun: “I got my boobs done in 2013, going from a B-cup to an E, but they became really heavy.”

And now, she explained: “I regret my boobs, ever doing them.
“I wish I never touched my boobs, ever, ever. I had great boobs. I ruined them.
“I’m now scarred for life. I just regret it so much. My boobs before implants were perfect. I had the perfect boobs before implants.
“Now I’m scarred…so upsetting.”
Not only this, but Anna, who previously travelled to Turkey with her sister Mandi for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), continued: “One of my biggest regrets is that last BBL.”
Jess Wright
Former Towie star Jess Wright, who is parent to son Presley, had 32DD implants back in 2011 – and documented the process on the ITVBe series.
After previously confessing she “regretted” having surgery in the first place, she opted to have her implants removed.
Jess spoke candidly to us about her procedure reversal and said: “I was so sick of my big boobs – every single red-carpet dress I wanted to wear I had to dress for my boobs.
“My recommendation to any girl out there who has lovely boobs to begin with, which I did have, and I still do have, thank God, since having them out – don’t have any implants.”
Jess previously told how she would dissuade younger sister Natalya from having a boob job.
She added: “As I’ve got older, I was worried about having foreign bodies in my body.
“I just got to the point where I didn’t want anything in my body anymore, and if I ever have a daughter, I wouldn’t want her to either.”
Kylie Jenner
In 2023, Kylie finally admitted having a boob job at the age of 19.
The Kylie Cosmetics mogul went on to reveal that she got her boob job a few months prior to getting pregnant with her daughter “not thinking I would, like, have a child when I was 20.”
She expressed regret over the decision, saying: “I had beautiful breasts, like natural t*ts. Sat perfectly – just gorgeous. Like, perfect size, perfect everything. And I just wish obviously I never got them done to begin with.”
Kylie went on to say: “I would recommend anyone who is thinking about it to wait until after children. Obviously, I have a daughter, too, I would be heartbroken if she wanted to get her body done at 19.”
Kylie, now 28 – mum to Stormi, seven, and Aire, three – shocked fans by revealing her exact boob job – “445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!! Silicone!!! Garth Fisher!!!”.
Gisele Bundchen
Gisele Bundchen has revealed she had a secret boob job back in 2015 – which she instantly regretted.
The stunning supermodel, now 45, went under the knife as she’d become self-conscious of her wonky chest, after years of breastfeeding her two kids Benjamin and Vivian.
Gisele, who was once the highest-paid model in the world, explained to People magazine that friends and family had started to comment on her differing boobs, prompting her to have them done.
She said: “I felt very vulnerable, because I can work out, I can eat healthy, but I can’t change the fact that both of my kids enjoyed the left boob more than the right.”
However, the Brazilian model admitted she regretted the operation from the moment she came round, as she felt unnatural in her own body.
She said: “When I woke up, I was like, ‘What have I done?’ I felt like I was living in a body I didn’t recognise. For the first year I wore baggy clothes because I felt uncomfortable.”
Gisele added that she could not have overcome her insecurities without her now-ex-husband Tom Brady, who she married in 2009.
Katie Price
Katie Price has opened up about her regrets over her ‘biggest ever boobs’ as she admits surgery is like ‘going shopping’.
The 47-year-old mum-of-five, who has spent over £500,000 on cosmetic procedures – including a whopping 17 boob jobs.
Former glamour model Katie admits that she sometimes questions her enhanced appearance, and joked she has had “more boob jobs than boyfriends.”
Katie, who was known throughout the nineties as Jordan, has had several breast enhancements, rhinoplasty, a silhouette facelift, Brazillian Bum Lift, veneers, lip fillers and Botox.
She had her first boob job in 1998 when she was just 17 and went from a 32B cup to a 32C, and is reportedly planning her 18th boob job now.
It hasn’t always gone according to plan, and in 2015, just before appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, the reality star had a botched boob reduction that left her with a hole in her breast and an implant protruding from her flesh.
The former glamour model told Closer: “I think I need therapy when it comes to surgery.
“I wouldn’t say I’ve got body dysmorphia, but there’s obviously an underlying something why I feel I need to get surgery, or why I look in the mirror and think, ‘I want to change this or change that.’”
Why boob jobs are more mainstream now than ever before
STEPHAN Hannan, Clinical Services Director at The Harley Medical Group said breast augmentation continues to be one of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures.
He told Fabulous: “In recent years, breast augmentation has become significantly more mainstream.
“This shift is largely driven by increased visibility – with celebrities, influencers and the wider general public sharing their surgical experiences more openly than in the past.
“By discussing procedures publicly and documenting their journeys on social media, much of the stigma that once surrounded cosmetic surgery has been reduced.
“The conversation around breast surgery today is more transparent, empowering patients to explore their options while feeling informed and supported.
“Cosmetic surgery is now part of a broader, more normalised conversation, but responsible care remains fundamental.”
He added that every individual, whether a public figure or private patient, should be assessed holistically to ensure the procedure is both safe and suitable for them.
The medical professional shared: “Our priority is to support patients in making decisions that are medically sound, psychologically healthy, and reflective of their own aspirations – not external influences.”
