How we test

To test out the best skiwear, we tried out the clothing and accessories on the slopes, ensuring we could give an honest description of each product. This means actually skiing in them over several days and wearing them around the resort.

We tested how comfortable the items were, as well as how well they kept us dry and warm. 

The moveability of the product was also really important – there’s nothing worse than feeling constricted while you’re on the slopes.

We also assessed the quality, the pricing, the functionality and the fit of the garments to offer a well-rounded verdict.

The best skiwear to buy in 2026 

This sleek and chic suit in all-black is the epitome of wearing luxury on the mountains. The top half features a 3-layer waterproof hard shell, with 3M™ Thinsulate™ insulation, a fleece lining, and fully taped seams to keep you warm and dry. But then, proving to be just as fashionable as it is functional, the suit features flared, form-fitting legs, offering great movement and a flattering figure on the slopes. 

There’s also zip underarm vents for breathability as well as two concealed pockets and a ski pass pocket. The elasticated belt cinches you at the waist, offering an even more sleek silhouette. This really is a beauty, while also being functional for keeping you warm and dry.

This has to be one of the softest, most comfortable fleeces I’ve ever worn. Like a cloud on your skin, there’s nothing irritable about the fabric used and there was no chance of me becoming cold on the slopes while layering this underneath my coat. 

The quarter zip offers adjustability so you can be more comfortable when on or off the slopes and the fit is flattering. Meanwhile, if the temperatures drop, this is a great base layer which can easily accompany a thicker fleece or gilet over it and underneath your coat.

Not only is this base layer comfortable, easily keeping you warm and dry with highly breathable and temperature regulating fabric, it’s also odour eliminating.

There’s a quarter zip opening for adjustability and breathability and the lining of the attire means that it fits comfortably on your shoulders and doesn’t irritatingly rise up and move when layered underneath your ski jacket.

Flattering, sophisticated, and does its job perfectly – there’s no complaints about this coat. It offers full protection from windy and cold weather with its high neck, long sleeves and fitted hood. 

It’s waterproof, windproof and breathable, and has become an everyday wear for me, not just for Après-ski. It’s a great choice for when you’re done with the slopes and are ready to relax and enjoy your evening out and about at the resort.

Waterproof, windproof and breathable, this was a great coat for the days I stayed in the ski resort, preferring to enjoy a glass of wine or coffee outside one of the incredible restaurants I visited. 

It was really moveable, looked great and I was kept completely dry and warm thanks to the fully taped seams and water repellent coating. The A-line shape with a curved hem and back pleat detail means its a flattering number, without appearing too bulky.

This two piece set teams a fully waterproof coat with a detachable quilted jacket. They can be layered up to create the warmest of winter coats, or each used separately. 

All the seams are taped and there’s a water repellent coating making sure you stay warm, dry and comfortable all while looking stylish. There’s also a high neck, and a hood that can be tightened around your face in the rain or cold, and adjustable cuffs and hem to keep out the wine.

These waterproof, seam-sealed ski trousers from Columbia offer a flexible fit for moving freely. Designed with comfort in mind, they boast a stretch fit, adjustable waist tabs and articulated knees so there’s nothing holding you back from moving as freely, and as comfortably as possible. 

The internal leg gaiters block out the snow entirely, whilst the leg zips add to the flexible fit. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also reinforced cuff guards that protect against wear from skis while you’re on the slopes. The seam-sealed and water-proof fabric keeps it completely dry.

This waterproof ski shell is breathable with a seam-sealed finish and underarm venting to keep you feeling fresh and dry. The hood is helmet compatible and has peripheral adjustability to make sure it’s a good fit, while offering a clear vision while you’re in the mountains. The stretch material offers flexibility and movability, while there’s also pockets for your ski pass and goggles. Plus the design features a dropped tail hem for extra protection.  

These insulated, waterproof boots, with advanced reflective lining that traps and reflects your body heat while allowing moisture to escape, as well as a fleece interior for lasting warmth, were the most comfortable winter shoes I’ve ever worn in the mountains. My feet stayed dry and toasty no matter the snowy weather, and they offered great grip and support, as well as flexibility. They were stylish, easily pairing with most outfits, and I had compliment after compliment whilst wearing them. 

These ski gloves keep your hands warm, dry and fully functional for winter sports. They’re windproof and waterproof, and offer long coverage, while the thermal technology utilises your body heat to absorb and retain warmth, even when temperatures drop. Then there’s the adjustable cuffs to help keep in the heat.

This insulated, waterproof ski anorak combines style with comfort and advanced technology to ensure you stay not only protected on the slopes, but also as comfortable as possible. 

There’s pockets galore and the fabric inside is remarkably comfy. I would say, however, that I sized up wanting plenty of room for thermals and a jumper underneath, but there was no need as it’s very roomy to begin with.

Before these trousers, I never enjoyed shopping for skiwear – I’d find it too clingy, with no breathing room or flexibility. But this waterproof attire offered breezy movement, a flattering silhouette and kept me warm while snow walking in Austria, which considering I’m always cold even when just casually sitting outside a pub in the UK in December while wrapped up in layers, is no mean feat.

Verdict

Honestly, it’s hard to pick a favourite out of the line-up of incredible products we tested. There’s the Tog 24 collection, which is always some of the best quality items, to the My Sunday Ski suit which felt incredibly luxurious.

But overall, when picking one standout item, it was the Women’s Snowtrot Peak™ ODX Winter Boot from Columbia that really made an impeccable impression.

Not only were they a hit on the mountain, with compliment after compliment for their unique, but chic, styling, but they’ve also made it into my winter wardrobe at home, saving me during any snowy or ice-filled day.

For someone with a lack of balance, the grip and support they offered was outstanding, while they also offered easy movement because they weren’t too tight on the ankle.

I also never had to deal with any damp and uncomfortable socks because they always kept my feet lovely and warm thanks to the technology the boots boast. All in all, I’d recommend these to anyone looking for a fashionable but highly practical winter boot.

What should skiwear include?

For those unsure on where to start with their skiwear purchases, it’s best to tick off a few absolute must-haves.

These include thick, waterproof gloves like the Women’s Arctic ones we’ve reviewed above – or go one step further and also pack hand warmers to hold. And whilst you’re at it, don’t forget a warm hat for when you’re not wearing your helmet.

Then there’s your coat. If you look for one that has a high neck, fitted hood and adjustable cuffs, as well as taped seams and is waterproof, you should be all set.

Your trousers should offer support, warmth and protect from the snow – but also pockets are handy as well as flexibility so you can comfortably move around.
