BBC bosses are preparing to swoop on Celebrity Traitors TV show star Alan Carr — lining up a big-money deal for his own chat show.
Almost ten years on from his hit Channel 4 series, Chatty Man, the star is in early talks for a new series in the wake of his Traitors popularity.
Alan, 49, is also being considered by production companies for a format alongside fellow show conspirator Jonathan Ross.
A source said: “Alan is a natural raconteur and viewers are getting to see him at his absolute best.
“Not only is he eminently likeable, he also has an incredible contacts book, so could pull in a few huge names onto his show.
“His agent has been sent a raft of offers and ideas over the past ten days, and the BBC are keen to keep their stand-out Traitors asset.
“One other option mooted was a vehicle with Jonathan, but Wossy has actually just signed a one-year extension to his own chat show so, realistically, that seems unlikely.”
Alan — who started out as a warm-up act for Jonathan — helped Celebrity Traitors become the biggest show on terrestrial TV.
The first episode drew in over 12million viewers and the final may get over 15million.
It has overtaken Strictly Come Dancing as the jewel in the BBC’s crown.
Bafta-winning Alan has a long history with the Beeb.
He made his Radio 2 presenting debut on Christmas Day 2007, and has had regular slots on the station since then.
From 2009 until 2017 he hosted Alan Carr: Chatty Man with celebrity guests including Adele, Cameron Diaz, Kylie Minogue and One Direction.
The star recently had a fourth series of his popular BBC1 travelogue with Amanda Holden recommissioned.
