A CELEBRITY chef has announced the closure of his 200-year-old Michelin-rated pub.
The BBC chef has admitted the establishment is “no longer financially viable”.

The Mount by Glynn Purnell in Henley, Arden is set to shut its doors on Sunday, March 15.
The pub had a four year run during which it got featured in the Michelin Guide 2024 and retained its recommended status last year.
The Mount has been hit by rising running costs, including higher food prices and energy bills.
Purnell described the venue as a “special place” but said the tough decision had to be made as the hospitality industry faces mounting pressures.
Staff are being supported through the closure and all suppliers will receive payment, according to the statement.
The Birmingham-born chef said: “The hospitality landscape has become increasingly challenging, and despite everyone’s hard work, it’s simply not sustainable to continue.
“I’m hugely grateful for the opportunity and for the commitment shown throughout. I wish the owners every success for the future.
“We want to thank our staff for their dedication and professionalism, our suppliers for their support, and, most importantly, our loyal customers who have supported The Mount over the past four years.”
The celeb chef will now focus on his other ventures, including Trillium and Plates by Purnell’s in Birmingham, and The Wood Norton in Evesham.
Purnell is known for his TV appearances such as BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and Great British Menu.
