Richards works as a pundit for both BBC Sport on Match of the Day and also for Sky Sports during the Premier League.

He is part of the CBS team for Champions League coverage, too, alongside Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and host Kate Abdo.

As well as his punditry gigs, Richards co-hosts The Rest Is Football podcast with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.

And it was with that same duo that the ex-England man managed a team, Deportrio, in the debut Baller League season.

But now he has secured a new role as a brand ambassador for Remington.

The company specialise in personal care products such as hairdryers and shavers.

Richards – who famously gets his hair cut three times a week – joins as the face of the shave and trim division.

He said: “I am buzzing to be working with Remington.

“My hairstyles have always been a big part of how I express myself – on-and-off the pitch – and I love how Remington makes high-performance tools that fit into everyday routines.

“I never thought I would be tempted to cheat on my barber, but here I am.

“With Remington’s high-performance tools in my hands, I have realised you can get a proper trim from the comfort of your own home and it fits into my routine, effortlessly.”

Richards left colleagues Henry and Carragher utterly stunned when he revealed he stumps up £600 per week on trims, with three cuts at £200 each.

It works out as around £24,000 per year – with Richards estimating he averages 120 haircuts across the course of 12 months.

He even flew his loyal barber of 20 years Seyi out to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to ensure he looked fresh throughout the tournament.

Now, though, as part of his role with Remington, he has tried to learn how to cut hair in a hilarious video – so Seyi can have some respite.

Richards will front various coverage for the brand including a challenge to give out trims to members of the public.
