David Hasselhoff looked frail when he was spotted for the first time in months on Monday as he enjoyed a hike in nature with his wife, Hayley Roberts, at his side.
But the 73-year-old Baywatch icon — who was outfitted with two trekking poles to handle the uneven terrain out in Calabasas, California — is actually on the upswing after undergoing both knee- and hip-replacement surgery, the Daily Mail has learned.
A representative for Hasselhoff revealed that he had undergone the medical procedures, after he was previously seen requiring a wheelchair to get around at Los Angeles‘s LAX airport.
They added that the actor was now doing well as he focused on recovery.
Hasseholff, who was last pictured in public back in July 2025, relied on his trekking poles for support as he hiked through the brush, and at one point, Roberts also grasped his arm as if to steady him.
Their outing comes as a new generation of stars — and influencers — are filming a reboot of Hasselhoff’s most popular series, Baywatch.

In addition to grasping his arm, Roberts, 45, was spotted at another moment standing behind her husband and placing her hands on his sides to seemingly steady him.
Hasselhoff was dressed sportily in a light-gray T-shirt with dark sweatpants, while Roberts, who is nearly three decades her husband’s junior, wore a slightly cropped white T-shirt with black leggings and a teal baseball cap over her blond locks.
Her husband, whose once-dark hair was now mostly gray, covered up with a black cap, and he wore a set of dark plastic-frame sunglasses.
Despite his age and recent mobility struggles, Hasselhoff has managed to maintain an impressively trim figure.
He and his wife appeared to be hiking off a trail and into an area full of tall grasses, where his trekking poles were likely of assistance.
Although Hasselhoff doesn’t appear to have previously revealed that he underwent knee- and hip-replacement surgery, he told photographers in July that he was planning to have surgery on his knee when he was seen limping through LAX on a trip to Cancun.
Hasselhoff also had to be pushed in a wheelchair by an airline representative for part of his time in the airport.

Hasselhoff had struggled with alcohol abuse in the past, exemplified by the leak of a 2007 video apparently shot by his daughter Taylor Ann, in which he was clearly intoxicated.
She quizzed him about his drinking in the tense video and worried that it might harm his role in a Las Vegas production of The Producers that he had been appearing in at the time.
After the clip was released, Hasselhoff claimed that it had been done so intentionally by his daughter to reveal his behavior when he was drunk.
Hasselhoff’s nature walk came just over a year after the tragic death of his second wife and former Baywatch costar, Pamela Bach.
Bach, who was only 62, was found dead at her home in March 2025 after taking her own life.
She had been married to Hasselhoff from 1989 until their 2006 divorce, and he shared his only children — daughters Taylor Hasselhoff-Fiore, 35, and Hayley Hasselhoff, 33 — with Bach.

Although they starred together on Baywatch, Hasselhoff and Bach met earlier, on the set of his science fiction series Knight Rider in 1986.
He had been married at the time to his costar Catherine Hickland, whom he divorced in 1989.
Hasselhoff and Bach reconnected that year when she was cast on Baywatch, and they tied the knot later in 1989.
After his divorce, the actor began dating Roberts — who hails from Wales — in 2011, and they were wed in Italy’s Apulia region in 2018.
