Bass Unveils ‘Pay to Stay Home’ Plan for LA’s Illegals – HotAir

Good Lord almighty. This is turning into one of those days.

I finish a post, think ‘Let’s see what Europe’s doing to themselves,’ and just then WHAMMY.

The whackos in California come through again.

I can’t get away from these people and their never-ending trainwreck.

Just about two weeks ago,I wrote about immigrant activists and labor unions like the SEIU beginning campaigns to pressure the Los Angeles City Council to declare yet another rent freeze and eviction moratorium. This is all based on the premise that, thanks to the stepped-up immigration enforcement in the city, hordes of illegals were too terrified to step out of their homes to go to work. Since they’re not working, they won’t get paid, would possibly fall behind on their rent, and then lose their homes through eviction.

ALL BECAUSE OF THE HOMBRE NARANJA MALO

Naturally, having already suffered through such restrictions thanks to COVID, the recent fires, and yet a housing crunch, area landlords are apoplectic at the thought.

Well, I hadn’t heard any more until just now, when Bass dropped this bombshell at her press conference this afternoon.

…The payments will be distributed using cash cards with a “couple hundred” dollars on them and will be available to illegal aliens starting next week.

“You have people who don’t want to leave their homes, who are not going to work, and they are in need of cash,” Bass said.

Mayor Bass claims the money will not come from taxpayers but from philanthropic partners.

WOWSAHS

‘Philanthropic partners,’ huh – with no tax dollars?

Well, hang on a second because I’m already seeing a problem with the plan if that’s the goal.

…“You have people who don’t want to leave their homes, who are not going to work, and they are in need of cash,” she said.

Bass spoke about a family she met who needed two incomes to afford their rent. After one of the breadwinners was detained in an immigration raid, she said, the family is concerned they may face eviction.

It was not immediately clear what the qualifications will be needed to receive the cards.

The mayor emphasized that the money will not come from city coffers but from philanthropic partners. The cards will be distributed by immigrants rights groups such as the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles.

The city will coordinate between philanthropists and organizations distributing the cards, according to the mayor’s office.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights in Los Angeles or CHIRLA? Is pretty much taxpayer funded, thanks to Mayor Bass.

Not two days ago, I wrote about them after doing some digging when one of their big goons showed up behind her at a post-MacArthur Park brouhaha press conference.

CHIRLA is under congressional investigation for misuse of federal funds and has gotten  $34M in grants from the state of CA alone in just 2023, along with federal dollars the Trump administration is now trying to claw back.

Those ‘grants’ are not from some bazillionaire writing checks because he’s bored living next to Roise in Ireland. THOSE ARE TAX DOLLARS.

Not to mention, the four goons arrested at MacArthur Park for the terroristic attack on CBP vehicles with nail-studded tire spikes were all CHIRLA members. They even carried their little sabotage materials in a CHIRLA bag, probably paid for by, again, taxpayers.

Again, they do not have any patron saint but Uncle Sam and the Golden Bear God, who are now going to be paying illegals – and God knows who else when word of this gets out – to stay home.

Truly, this is like watching a trainwreck, and you can’t look away.

All you can do is wonder when the Mayor of Crazytown finally gets carried offstage and the good guys ride in.

Or maybe, after they cut every last dollar off, you just lock the gates and let them sort it out themselves.
