Barry Keoghan finally cleared up how to pronounce his surname as he appeared on BBC Radio One’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday.
Greg James quizzed the actor, 33, on how to say his last name after being told by friends and listeners he was saying it wrong.
Greg said: ‘Can I just check this? Every time I say it on the radio people are like, “it’s not Ke-OH-gan”.
‘I’m like, “it is”.’
When asked by Barry who tells him he is mispronouncing Keoghan, the host replied: ‘Everyone. And I’ve been saying this to all my mates and they’re like “Why are you saying Ke-OH -ghan”.’
Barry said: ‘Until a Keoghan tells you it’s not how you say it…’, before he confirmed Greg was saying it right.

The clip from the interview was shared on TikTok and fans took to the comment section to say Barry is the one who is saying it wrong.
They wrote: ‘Barry pronounces his own name wrong. It’s supposed to be said “ky-own”. Eoghan is the Irish spelling of Owen and you don’t pronounce the g sound in that.’
‘HE pronounces it kee-ogan but the vast majority with that surname don’t pronounce it that way. It’s Kyowan. His name is right coz it’s his name but… it’s also wrong.’
‘I know a family of Keoghans and they all pronounce it like Kyo-an. The G is silent just how nobody pronounces the G in Gallagher apart from Oasis.’
‘The weird thing is I’ve never know anyone with that name to pronounce it his way. It’s keown.’
Elsewhere in the interview, Barry joked he watches his Saltburn naked scene every Monday.
The actor bared all in the infamous dance scene to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder On The Dancefloor in the black comedy thriller.
He said: ‘I can’t get away from it like because it’s part of me.’
