But Murs was not made to feel welcome after those in attendance this afternoon BOOED him when he was picked out by the cameras and put on the big screen.

And an awkward tweet from January 2018 resurfaced after he felt the ire of those around him.

Murs was watching Phil Taylor’s World Championship clash with Rob Cross when he posted a critical message on X – and it came back to bite him today.

He said: “People at the darts screaming ‘Boring, Boring Taylor’ honestly grow up!

“You’re watching a true great at his sport. He didn’t win 16 world titles being boring.”

Murs also saw Ryan Meikle, Callan Rydz and Jermaine Wattimena book their place in the last 32 today.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he revealed that he is a big darts fan and enjoyed watching Charlie Manby seal a whitewash victory over Adam Sevada on Monday.

The former X Factor star is also a Manchester United supporter and was previously a co-owner of non-league side Coggeshall Town.

Murs recently revealed that he is ready to start sparring ahead of a potential boxing debut.
