Ashes fans stunned by Sir Alastair Cook’s outfit for TNT Sports coverage and say he ‘looks like work experience kid’

FANS tuning in to the opening of the Ashes on Friday morning were caught off guard by Sir Alastair Cook’s outfit.

The legendary England cricketer, 40, was in attendance at Optus Stadium in Perth to help get the occasion under way.

But those tuning in could not help but be surprised by Cook’s choice of formal wear.

He wore a fairly typical textured blue suit over a white shirt, but his choice of accessory left some perplexed.

He picked out a bright green striped tie that looked quite reminiscent of a piece of school uniform.

His fans on social media even hilariously compared the look to a famous schoolboy character from TV.

One fan cheekily said: “Alastair Cook looks like the kid on work experience who didn’t realise it’s a more casual office environment.”

A second fan chimed in: “It’s giving will from the inbetweeners.”

While a third fan added: “This is Cook’s whole vibe always and I love him for it (and his world class batting obvs)”

Fans will have been left wishing he had turned up wearing cricket whites based on England‘s early batting performance.

The visitors managed just 33 overs before being bowled all out for a score of 172 in the early hours of Friday morning.

That is less than the 189 runs Cookie himself scored in the final test of the 2010/11 Ashes.

But the now-retired star is only in attendance to help provide his expertise to TNT Sports‘ coverage of the event.

He will hope that he has more positive things to say about England‘s bowling performance than their batting.
