Arsenal superfan KSI sets sights on Premier League promotion for new club as he drafts in Sidemen and Idris Elba

KSI wants to take Dagenham & Redbridge up through five divisions and all the way into the Premier League.

And he has teased the possibility of several celebrity pals joining him on the potential ride – like actor Sir Idris Elba – out of the National League South and as far as the top flight.

Olajide Olayinka Williams ‘JJ’ Olatunji – known globally and professionally as KSI – got involved with the sixth-tier side on March 3 as a minority shareholder and “strategic partner”.

The YouTuber, boxer and musician will bring a new fan base to the East London club, which was formed in 1992 and got as high as League One in 2010-11.

Wrexham showed what is possible as they have gone up through the leagues with mega wealth supplied by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

And KSI – who has gained worldwide fame through his crazy antics online – has lofty ambitions, despite the Daggers being a long way away from the Prem.

Speaking after new interim boss Andy Carroll oversaw a 1-0 win over Torquay United at Victoria Road, the 32-year-old Londoner said: “Wow. What a rollercoaster, man.

“I’m just so proud of the boys. So happy for Andy. I mean, a 100% record.

“The boys absolutely smashed it. Everyone did their job.

“How far can we go? I mean I said I want us to go to the Premier League.

“Obviously it is going to take time. As long as we just work on the foundations, fix things behind the scenes, just win games, keep the morale high, then anything is possible, man.

“I’m sure a few of the Sidemen boys will definitely want to come. I know Ethan (Payne) lives near here.

“He said he definitely will come down to some games. My list is endless.

“We can get Idris (Elba) if we wanted. Idris Elba down here. The list goes on, man.”

If he is not at games, then KSI – who is a big Arsenal fan – often spends his time watching the Gunners on one channel and Dagenham on the next.

This is going to be a big summer for the club in terms of recruitment and building a squad capable of getting promoted to the National League, the fifth tier.

That could happen this season but it is an outside bet – Dagenham are 12th in the league with six matches to go but only five points off the playoffs.

KSI said: “Quite a few players are out. Their contracts are up.

“You know we are going to have to renew some (contracts). Probably let some go.

“We are definitely looking to bolster the squad. If we don’t get promoted this season, then definitely get promoted next season.

“(Wrexham) definitely shows how important social media can be, in terms of letting people know about Dagenham & Redbridge.

“I mean I’d say more people know about Dagenham & Redbridge than some Championship sides, which says a lot.

“That is what my expertise is  – letting the whole world know about Dagenham & Redbridge, taking them everywhere.

“And then using that to help build the club more. Invest in the club. Get the right players. Just get everything we need to get to where we want to go.

“I mean I’m looking to go to Hornchurch and that’s an away game. So, I’m quite involved, I’m quite passionate.

“With everything I do, I put my all into it. We’ll see. We’ll see how things are but if my schedule lets me, I’ll be able to go to all the games.”
