Arsenal cruise through and West Ham in nervy penalty shoot-out as supercomputer predicts FA Cup fifth round

ARSENAL will keep their dreams of a historic quadruple alive by coasting past Mansfield in the FA Cup fifth round, according to a supercomputer.

The Gunners moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League earlier this week and are desperate to end their wait to add to the trophy cabinet.

Mansfield have poked fun at Arsenal’s corner tactics in a video shared on TikTok.

But the Gunners are expected to have the last laugh and avoid a humiliating upset against the League One side.

A supercomputer simulation by gambling portal British Gambler has tipped the North Londoners to cruise into the quarter-finals with a 3-0 win.

Sunderland are also being backed to avoid being knocked out of the FA Cup by EFL opposition.

The Black Cats are expected to notch a 2-0 victory over League One strugglers Port Vale, who are ten points adrift of safety.

But it has been predicted that West Ham will suffer penalty shoot-out heartbreak at the hands of Brentford.

The London Stadium showdown is being projected to finish 2-2 before the Bees prevail on spot-kicks.

And that would mean West Ham still being without FA Cup glory since they clinched the trophy for a third time in 1980.

Liverpool’s hopes of sealing Champions League qualification took a hit when they lost to Wolves on Tuesday.

But Arne Slot’s side have been tipped to get revenge when they make a quickfire return to Molineux – notching a 2-1 win.

Supercomputer’s FA Cup fifth round predictions

Wolves 1-2 Liverpool

Mansfield Town 0-3 Arsenal

Wrexham 1-2 Chelsea

Newcastle United 1-2 Manchester City

Fulham 2-1 Southampton

Port Vale 0-2 Sunderland

Leeds United 2-1 Norwich City

West Ham United 2–2 Brentford (Brentford win on penalties)

Chelsea are also expected to book their spot in the quarter-finals thanks to beating Championship play-off contenders Wrexham by the same scoreline.

Manchester City’s dreams of overcoming Arsenal in the Premier League title race took a severe hit when they were forced to settle for a midweek draw against Nottingham Forest.

But Pep Guardiola’s side – who have scored 12 GOALS across their wins over Exeter and Salford to reach this stage – are on course to bounce back with a 2-1 victory at Newcastle.

Fulham and Leeds are being backed to fight off Championship opposition as they look to keep their silverware hopes alive.

They are expected to get the better of Southampton and Norwich respectively.

Alex Kostin, a spokesperson for British Gambler, said: “Our supercomputer simulations suggest several tight ties in this weekend’s FA Cup fifth round.

“But the strongest teams in the competition are still expected to come through.

“Liverpool travelling to Wolves and Manchester City facing Newcastle stand out as two of the most competitive fixtures in the round, with both predicted to be decided by a single goal.

“The FA Cup is always capable of producing surprises, but our model indicates that Arsenal and Chelsea are strongly placed to avoid a ‘cupset’ against Mansfield and Wrexham respectively to reach the quarter-finals.”
