ANDREW and ex-wife Fergie will step out of exile to celebrate their granddaughter’s christening.
The disgraced ex-prince, 65, and former Duchess of York, 66, are set to attend the palace event on Friday, it has been reported.
According to The Mail on Sunday, it will be the first time the pair have been inside a royal palace since being stripped of their titles.
It comes as their daughter, Princess Beatrice, 37, and her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi, 42, will christen their baby Athena at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.
A source said: “It’s going to be a royal occasion, but everyone is dreading the thought of seeing Andrew there.”
Another insider claimed: “Beatrice has, of course, invited her father. But things are not warm between them.
“However, she’s worried about him. He’s going through a low ebb with his mental health and she recognises that he dotes on his grandchildren and it would be cruel to deprive him of the chance to attend the christening.”
The source added how discussions and “diplomacy” with King Charles would have been necessary.
An investigation by the media outlet also revealed Andrew saved up to £3.1million in paying “peppercorn rent” for his daughters to live in a St James’s apartment.
The former Duke rented the four-bedroom flat for just £1,600 a month, while other properties on the market in that area go for a staggering £20,000 a month.
Over 14 years his daughters lived there, this means he could have saved up to £3.1million.
This comes after the disgraced royal was officially stripped of his last royal titles last week, amid a delay to his eviction from Royal Lodge.
The Sun reported how King Charles had ordered his membership of the Order of the Garter – said to be the most chivalric order in the land – to be cancelled.
The King also ordered Andy’s Knight of the Grand Cross of the Royal Victoria Order to be cancelled and annulled.
The King’s decision means the disgraced former royal is only clinging on to one remaining title.
Andrew is still a vice-admiral in the Royal Navy, despite the government’s pledge to strip him of the honour at Charles’ request.
Defence Secretary John Healey said the government would “work to remove” his last remaining title of vice-admiral.
The decision and power to remove the honorary vice-admiral title remains with the government and not the King.
The official cull comes just weeks after the shamed royal was stripped of his Duke of York and Prince title and agreed to leave Royal Lodge.
But his eviction from Royal Lodge is likely to be delayed until February, because he is struggling to downsize.
He may also be set to lose £500k compensation for being kicked out of the 31-bedroom Windsor mansion after leaving it in rundown state.
As part of his leasing arrangement, Andrew could have been entitled to £488,000 for surrendering his 75-year lease early.
But he may now have to forfeit that after Crown Estate investigators found the property was in a “dilapidated” condition, as revealed by The Sun last month.
The shamed royal will now move to the Sandringham estate while ex-wife Fergie is said to be making her own housing arrangements.
Andrew was finally brought to his knees by the scandal engulfing paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and sex abuse accuser Virginia Giuffre.
Ms Giuffre, who took her own life in April, has alleged she was trafficked by Epstein to have sex with Andrew on three occasions.
Despite insisting he had never met Virginia, the former duke paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault case with her in 2022.
Her memoir went on to make further unsettling allegations about his alleged conduct.
