AMANDA PLATELL: I once pitied Conor McGregor’s ‘long-suffering’ partner Dee Devlin. But now this tiny detail in this disgraceful new picture has made me realise she may be the most deluded woman in the world. Here is why…

At first glance, it was impossible not to swoon over the photographs Conor McGregor posted for his 46million Instagram followers – a magical marriage to his long-time partner and mother of his four children, Dee Devlin, resplendent in virginal white lace inside one of the Vatican’s oldest chapels – which was festooned with more roses than Kate and William’s Westminster Abbey wedding.

But there are a few people whom the pictures certainly won’t impress: Nikita Hand, the woman he was ordered to pay £210,000 damages to, after she accused him of raping her and he was found liable for sexually assaulting her in a civil trial in 2024 after they met at a Christmas party in a Dublin hotel six years earlier.

Also, the unnamed bikini-clad brunette he was snapped kissing on a Florida beach last year, and Azealia Banks the US rap artist who claims he sent her unsolicited naked pictures of himself. Oh, and the two other unnamed women who claim he has sexually assaulted them.

This litany of troubling allegations must leave us wondering: is Dee, now Mrs Conor McGregor, the most deluded woman in the world?

How many red flags does she ignore before she wakes up to the reality that her new hubby is not just a money-hungry social media sensation but a complete narcissist, a serial cheater and a sexual predator?

When pictures of him kissing that mystery woman in Florida emerged, his then fiancée responded by posting on Instagram a photo of her muscle-bound, bare-chested partner alongside a heart-eyes emoji with the bizarre choice of caption: ‘My monster.’

One observer at the time said of her relationship with Conor: ‘She’s terrified, I feel really sorry for her. She must be dying inside.

‘We are being told to believe that this is a happy, loving relationship behind all the headlines. I think a lot of things clearly point to the fact that she is not.’

The unnamed source added: ‘From early on in the relationship, she has had a great deal to cope with. I would be very concerned about how much she can take. The contrast with the romance of the couple’s early years could not be more stark.’

Yet, after the scandal, the couple continued to push the narrative of an idyllic family life on social media: their Instagram pages were full of happy snaps from sunny climes, trick-or-treating with their kids, and date nights.

Perhaps it’s easy for Conor’s long-suffering fiancée to turn a blind eye to his past indiscretions when she can hide away inside his $3million family home in Ireland, or his $4million Nevada home. Or comfort herself by helping to spend his £235million fortune, being driven around by a chauffeur in his £300,000 Rolls-Royce and frolicking with their children on holidays aboard Conor’s £2.6million luxury yacht.

But the most bewildering and confusing chapter in this saga is that, despite all his former indiscretions, he and Dee – both born ‘devoted’ Catholics – married in a deeply religious ceremony last month.

Conor revealed how he woke up with an ‘intense need to wed’ Dee Devlin after undergoing a hallucinogenic treatment in Mexico.

The wedding had originally been scheduled for a later date, but McGregor has now told how a request from the Vatican led to them holding it earlier – timing he described as ‘divine orchestration’.

The fighter posted on X: ‘I married the love of my life, Dee, on the 12th of the 12th at exactly 12:12pm. We wed in the Chapel of Santo Stefano degli Abissini – the Vatican’s oldest church.’

He added that ‘God’s hand guided every detail, conforming his blessing on our union and His presence in my life.’

Somehow, Conor, I’m not buying it. I’m sorry to say that I don’t think God would approve of your serial cheating antics.

Once, I felt sorry for Dee, whom I saw as a victim – a pawn in Conor’s craving for fame and fortune and social media hits. Now I’m not so sure.

What woman in her right mind would marry a person found liable for sexual assault, a serial philanderer with his numerous well-documented dalliances with other women splashed all over social media? Most of us would have run a mile – if not for our own protection, then for that of our children.

So, yes, Dee might be the most deluded woman in the world. But she might too be the most calculating.
