ALISON Hammond has revealed Paul Hollywood’s very generous birthday gift to their Great British Bake Off co-star Noel Fielding.
This Morning presenter Alison, 50, has co-hosted Bake Off alongside Noel, 52, for two years while he joined the show in 2017.
Ahead of the new series of the Channel 4 baking competition, Alison has shared some behind-the-scenes gossip – including the flash present Paul, 59, gifted Noel for his birthday.
The iconic Bake Off tent is located at Welford Park in Berkshire and she told how they – along with Paul’s fellow judge Prue Leith – get around on golf buggies.
Speaking to The Guardian, Alison said: “Noel doesn’t have a driving licence so he’s obsessed. That’s his time to be a driver.
“He was extra lucky this year: for his birthday, Paul bought him the car that Noel’s dad had when he was a kid. This beautiful three-wheeler.
“Now he has to pass his test or it’ll be embarrassing. Someone’s bought you a car and you can’t drive it? Bit rude.
“I made a point of telling Paul that my dad drove a Mercedes, so next birthday, you never know. Fingers crossed!”
It’s not the first time Paul has taken an interest in getting Noel on the road.
After he joined the show, Noel revealed Paul offered to give him driving lessons alongside helping him to brush up on his baking knowledge.
Noel said: “I don’t cook much, so Paul is quite determined to teach me to make a sourdough loaf — and how to drive a car!
“I can’t drive. He keeps saying for me to come over to make pizzas, too.”
The sixteenth series of Bake Off will kick off next month and the class of 2025 was recently revealed.
The line-up includes a powerlifter, two hairdressers and a drag king.
