ALAN SHEARER says Erling Haaland will smash his Premier League scoring record – but only if he stays at Man City.
The Newcastle legend sits top of the pile with a tally of 260 for both his hometown Mags and Blackburn Rovers.
Norwegian star Haaland, 25, has amassed 94 in 104 top-flight games for the Cityzens and Shearer cannot see him slowing down.
He told Betfair: “Yes, Haaland is the perfect centre-forward. His record is phenomenal, appetite to score is fantastic. I love it.
“He’s quick, strong, agile, he reacts quicker than most around the six-yard box which is impressive and his ability to put the ball in the back of the net is magnificent.
“If you’re building a footballer or centre-forward, you wouldn’t look too far away from Haaland being the perfect one.
“Haaland could definitely break my Premier League goal record.
“There’s no doubt that if he does another seven or eight years, maybe even less then he’ll have a brilliant chance of breaking it.
“But there’s so many ifs and different things that could happen to that.
“What happens if and when Pep Guardiola leaves, the shadow is still hanging over Man City in terms of the inquiry that’s gone on.

“There are so many ifs and buts, but absolutely, if Haaland was to stay in the Premier League another six or seven years then he’s definitely someone who could, and probably will break my record.”
The Norwegian, who joined Manchester City in 2022 is averaging 0.90 goals per game, that is nearly a goal every game, an insane rate.
What that means is that he needs another 166 more goals to equal Shearer’s record and at this rate it will take him approximately another 184 Premier League games.
That is just under five Premier League seasons assuming he stays fit and plays all the 38 league games.
Haaland has already won the Premier League and Champions League with the Citizens.
However, he was unable to reignite them when they fell off last season, and it still remains unclear whether his goals will be enough to get City challenging for the title this time around.
Pep Guardiola’s side finished third last season, but for the most part, they looked beatable, a far cry from the invincible aura they’ve had for most of the past decade.
They are currently fifth in the league table after seven games, and the next month will reveal whether they’re contenders or pretenders.
