He was announced as the winner of the first ever celebrity series of The Traitors on Thursday night after managing to fool the Faithful until the bitter end.
Though it wasn’t just a shock win that Alan Carr gave viewers watching at home – but many hilarious and shocking moments that helped drive the series to its most successful yet, drawing in 11million viewers live.
Comedian Alan, 49, was picked as what might be the show’s most unlikely Traitor to date by Claudia, 53, in the dramatic first episode.
Joking he had a ‘sweating problem’ and laughing at every turn, it seemed unlikely that the star would be able to keep up appearances until the bitter end.
Especially given former rugby ace Joe Marler set his sights on him and fellow Traitor, singer Cat Burns, in last weeks’ episodes, and attempted to recruit the remaining Faithful, actor Nick Mohammed and historian David Olusoga, to turn on him.
But in the tense final episode, with Cat, 25, sent packing and Joe, 35, banished by his co-stars, Alan had his moment of victory, taking home the £87,000 prize pot for his chosen charity.
While the series may have ended, some of Alan’s most legendary Celebrity Traitors moments will remain firmly in the nation’s memories for months to come.

Making his first appearance as a Traitor
He couldn’t even stifle a giggle as he told Claudia he wanted to be a Traitor in the opening scenes of the series, leaving Claudia shaking her head.
And after he was selected by the TV host to become a Celebrity Traitor, Alan was handed his cloak for the first time to head up to the tower of Ardross Castle.
It was there he would discover that he’d be working alongside hitmaker Cat and chat show host Jonathan Ross in murdering their fellow players.
While it was serious business for the trio, Alan appearing in his cloak broke the Internet as fans went wild over a hilarious camera angle of the Chatty Man star.
Hidden under the cloak with his signature heavy-framed glasses peeking out, the comedian was filmed sneaking through the castle with a lantern.
Viewers wasted no time in sharing and captioning the hilarious image of Alan, coming up with their own scenarios to go along with the photo shared by the BBC.
‘Me on the way to get a sweet treat in the middle of the night,’ one penned, as another chimed in: ‘6am on bin day when you forgot to put out the recycling.’
‘Waking your mum up at 7am to tell her you need a load of cooking ingredients and your PE kit washing for school in 20 mins,’ a third captioned the image.

The Traitors were tasked with carrying out a murder in plain sight – and Alan decided to kill off best pal Paloma Faith
Murdering his best pal Paloma Faith
The Traitors were tasked with carrying out their first murder in plain sight, by touching the face of another contestant and ‘poisoning’ them with a deadly flower.
And in a shock twist, Alan was the first to commit murder as he wasted no time in killing off his friend Paloma, 44, in the castle’s kitchen.
After finding the perfect moment with her alone, he asked Paloma ‘You’ve got a hair on your face’ before subtly touching her face to adjust her hair.
Paloma went on to survive the night as the slow-working ‘poison’ got to grips, and she appeared at breakfast the next day, even after Alan had killed her.
But she was shockingly put into a coffin and carried away as part of a prize-building game, which saw Alan feigning total heartbreak.
Fans were left in uproar by the killing, but Alan used the murder to his advantage to throw his fellow players off his scent, by pretending to be heartbroken over her ‘death’.
He told the cameras: ‘I think Paloma’s murder has thrown everyone off myself. I’m getting, “Are you alright, I know Paloma was close to you”…’
The move worked for Alan, whose name wasn’t brought up at the subsequent roundtable as his co-stars ruled him out of being the one to murder Paloma.

Savage broom cupboard Kate Garraway dig
Alan left fans in hysterics as he and his fellow Traitors Cat and Jonathan discussed who they wanted to target next and send packing from the castle.
The comedian took a savage swipe at Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway, who her co-stars had become suspicious of after suggesting she had been over-acting.
After a side-eye from Olympic diver Tom Daley, and her name was brought up at the round table, Alan, Jonathan and Cat deliberated if she would be a good victim.
But Alan hit out: ‘If Kate doesn’t come down for breakfast, people will just think she’s gone into a broom cupboard…’
Terrified on the wobbly bridge
The celebrities were tasked with crossing a wobbly bridge in one prize-building challenge and Alan left fans in hysterics as his screams ricocheted across the valley.
The celebrities had to cross the rickety bridge unaided in order to bag the prize money but Alan couldn’t stop screaming as he made his way across.
Taking his first steps he cried: ‘Oh no it’s well wobbly. Oh no no no no. Stop it now,’ and as Kate, 58, attempted to offer some words of encouragement as she shouted: ‘You are nearly there,’ he hit back: ‘No I am not you liar.’
After successfully crossing the bridge, he secured £2,500 for the prize pot before he cried: ‘God, my testicles. I feel like a winner… and a eunuch’.

Throwing Jonathan under the bus
He’d made no secret of the fact that he’d be prepared to throw fellow Traitors under the bus if it meant he’d remain undetected for longer.
Secretly meeting with co-star Cat in the kitchen for a discussion following a tense roundtable that saw eyes locked on Jonathan as a Traitor, he revealed he would have ‘put Jonathan’s name down’ and jumped on the bandwagon.
He admitted he ‘didn’t want Jonathan to drag them down’ and was ready to ‘throw him under the bus’ if necessary.
Agreeing their plan together to get rid of Jonathan to protect themselves if it came to it, Alan and Cat were quick to turn on him during the next roundtable discussion.
Pointing at him across the table, Alan said: ‘Can I just say while we’re on Jonathan – you know I was suspicious of Joe, he’s always there planting the seed…
‘I had a little bit of a brain wave, what if those two are the Traitors?’
Voting for Jonathan at the table, he added: ‘I promised myself that I wouldn’t follow the crowd and be a sheep – but that’s why I feel so bad now. I’m so sorry Jonathan, I had to go for it. Sorry.’
Jonathan was then sent packing from the castle after he revealed to the remaining contestants that he was in fact a Traitor.

Reciting Shakespeare to Celia Imrie
The Traitors were once again tasked by host Claudia to kill off one of their fellow players in plain sight, this time at a dinner party as the contestant numbers dwindled.
Alan and Cat were told they would have to recite a famous line from Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, with their targets name added at the end, to kill them.
Deciding who was going to recite the line, Alan decided that it would have to be him because of how unlikely it would be to come from young singer Cat.
And as tensions rose, he was seen nervously giggling at the end of the table as he geared up to say his piece, directed at actress Celia Imrie.
The reluctant assassin told the cameras ahead of the killing: ‘I should be good at it – I murdered Paloma in plain sight, I handed Lucy the death warrant, and I’m really hoping third times a charm.’
Using the quote towards Celia, Alan pretended it was something he’d learned from fellow show star Stephen Fry before he was banished.
‘Stephen, you know, he’s just got that brain,’ Alan said. ‘The quotes and everything he’d say – like, what did he say before he went to bed?
‘Parting is such sweet sorrow, Celia.’
Alan managed to get away with it when the hapless Faithful instead speculated Celia had been killed by a poisoned cheeseboard, a sun-dried tomato or chutney.

The fatal final five fire pit giggle
After evading any form of suspicion for most of the series, Alan nearly gave the game away for himself when he made the near-fatal mistake of giggling in front of his co-stars.
After the final five was confirmed by Claudia, the group were brought outside for a champagne toast, where the host told them they had one last chance to try to swear themselves as Faithful to the rest of the group.
Joe, Nick, David, Cat and Alan were asked to look at each other in the eye and repeat ‘I am a Faithful’.
But when it came to Alan to have his turn, he burst out laughing as he struggled to say the statement with a straight face, and left the group in stitches.
Trying to play down the faux pas, he told them: ‘I am a Faithful, I just get nervous,’ as he continued to giggle to try and mask his deceit.
He went on to narrowly miss out on being uncovered by rugby star Joe, who told cameras in a confessional: ‘It’s just another confirmation of what I’m thinking about Alan.
‘He can’t even look us in the eyes and say “I’m A Faithful”.’

Breaking down in tears
After weeks of strategic gameplay, alliances and betrayals, the comedian managed to hoodwink Nick and David into believing he was a Faithful.
Viewers watched in awe and bewilderment as Alan took the crown and £87,500 prize, despite his previous claims he was as bad a Traitor as series three star Linda Rands.
The TV personality revealed why he broke down in tears after finally confiding his true identity – telling his co-stars he had struggled to keep his identity hidden.
He told them: ‘I am, and always have been, a Traitor. I’m so sorry, it’s been tearing me apart, I’m so sorry. I really am sorry.’
Alan was reassured by Faithful stars David and Nick, who told him it was ‘just a game’ and congratulated him on playing well throughout the series.
The comedian added: ‘I was awful, I had no poker face but here I am. Maybe I do exaggerate a showbiz story now and again. But to just lie to people’s faces, it was tough’.
