Multiple people have been shot after a gunman opened fire at a Mormon church in Michigan.
An ‘active shooter’ targeted the Church of Latter Day Saints in Grand Blanc on Sunday morning, according to local police.
Grand Blanc Township Police Department said there were ‘multiple victims and the shooter is down’ at around 11.13am. It’s unclear whether there are any fatalities.
The department also said the church was on fire in the aftermath of the shooting.
‘There has been an active shooter at the church of Latter Day Saints on McCandlish Road,’ police said in a statement.
‘There are multiple victims and the shooter is down. There is NO threat to the public at this time. The church is actively on fire.
‘For people on site, the reunification site is the pavilion to the north. Offsite reunification will be at Trillium theater at Holly and McCandlish.’
Grand Blanc is a small city on the outskirts of Flint, located around 60 miles northwest of central Detroit.

Photographs shared on social media show a fire tearing through the church with a large plume of smoke overhead.
Emergency vehicles could be seen parked outside as first responders rushed to help the wounded.
