Kid Cudi reveals how he was ‘played’ by Cassie and describes terrifying revenge plot by ‘supervillain’ Diddy in bombshell courtroom testimony

A rapper told Diddy’s trial how his $140,000 Porsche was blown up after the hip hop mogul found out he had been seeing his girlfriend.

Scott Mescudi, who is known as Kid Cudi, said the Porsche 911 Cabriolet was destroyed by a Molotov cocktail thrown by assailants who slashed the roof.

Mescudi said he suspected Diddy was involved in the terrifying attack at his home in Los Angeles because he was ‘violent’.

He also revealed that Diddy had broken into his home when he found out about his relationship with Cassandra Ventura.

The claims were made at a court in New York where Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, 55, denies sex trafficking and other charges.

Ventura had been dating Diddy since 2007 but Mescudi thought she had broken up with him when they began seeing each other in 2011.

On December 22nd 2011 around 5.30am, Mescdui got a panicked call from Ventura while at his home in Los Angeles.

He said: ‘She told me that Sean Combs had found out about us. I was really confused.

‘She asked me to pick her up. She sounded really stressed, nervous, scared so I went to pick her up.

‘She was also worried he would come to my house because he asked for my address and she gave it to him’.

After picking up Ventura and taking her to the Sunset Marquis hotel, Mescudi drove towards his home and called Diddy on the way.

Apologizing for his language, Mescudi told the court that he said to Diddy: ‘M***********, you in my house? He’s like what’s up?’

Mescudi repeated: ‘ ‘M***********, you in my house?’ to which Diddy replied: ‘I just wanna talk’.

Mescudi told Diddy he was ‘on my way over right now’.

By the time Mesccudi arrived, nobody was there.

The only damage was that some Chanel presents had been opened and Mescudi’s dog had been locked in the bathroom.

According to Mescudi, he broke up with Ventura in late 2011 ‘for her safety, for my safety…because I knew Sean Combs was violent’.

But on January 9th 2012 at 6.30am, Mescudi got a call from his dog sitter saying his Porsche was on fire.

The jury was shown photos of the car showing the door covered in black smoke, the red leather seats covered in black stains and the roof slashed.

A Los Angeles Fire Department report from the time said that the Porsche was set on fire by an ‘incendiary device’ and that the cause was ‘intentional’.

Mescudi said that he arranged a meeting with Combs the next day at SoHo House in Hollywood because things were getting ‘out of hand’.

Asked why he wanted to call Diddy, Mescudi said: ‘I knew he had something to do with it’.

After an objection, the judge told the jury to disregard the comment.

Mescudi said: ‘I walked in and Sean Combs was standing there staring out the window with his hands behind his back like a Marvel supervillain.

‘We discussed pretty much the whole story about how me and Cassie first started to date to what it was to how it ended. His whole point was we were homies, you know that was my girl. (I said) she told me they were broken up, I took her word for it’.

Describing how the meeting ended, Mescudi said: ‘We stood up, shook hands. As I was shaking his hand I said what are we going to do about my car.

‘I asked him when our hands were clasped together…he looked back at me with a cold stare and said I don’t know what you’re talking about. I took my hand from his. He said wait, I thought we were cool. You said you didn’t burn my car up, that’s your word. I was like that’s it’.

Prosecutor Emily Anne Johnson asked Mescudi: ‘What was your understanding when Mr. Combs said he didn’t know what you were talking about?’

He replied: ‘That he was lying’.

During cross examination Mescudi said he had no knowledge of Diddy or any of his affiliates being at his home on the day his car was set on fire.

Mescudi agreed with Diddy’s lawyer Brian Steel when asked if it was ‘very surprising’ to discover Ventura was still dating Diddy.

Steel asked: ‘Ms. Ventura was not frank with you?’

Mescudi replied: ‘No’

Steel said: ‘She played you, those were your words?’

Mescudi replied: ‘Yes’.

Asked if he was in love with Ventura, Mescudi said yes.

Turning to the SoHo House meeting, Steel asked: ‘Both of you guys (Mescudi and Diddy) were played and that’s how it ended?’

Mescudi said: ‘True’

Steel asked: ‘The person who played you and Mr. Combs was Ms. Ventura?’

Mescudi said: ‘True’.

Earlier in the trial, Ventura testified that Diddy made an explicit threat about Mescudi after discovering she had been seeing him.

Ventura claimed that Diddy said he was ‘he was going to hurt Scott and I’ so she broke things off with Mescudi over Christmas 2011 while with her family in Connecticut.

‘It was too much,’ Ventura said. ‘Too much danger, too much uncertainty about what could happen if we continued to see each other.

‘Sean said to me he was going to hurt both of us. I took that in my mind that if I stay in this situation we’ll both be hurt.

According to Ventura during that time ‘Sean mentioned that when we were out of the country that Scott’s car would be blown up and his friends would be there to see it’.

Ventura said that Combs meant that Mescudi’s friends should ‘be there to see the car get blown up into the driveway’.

In Ventura’s lawsuit against Diddy, which she filed in 2023 and settled the next day for $20 million, she stated that he ‘blew up a man’s car after he learned that he was romantically interested in (her)’.

On Thursday the jury also heard from George Kaplan, who worked as Diddy’s executive assistant for just over a year between 2014 and 2015.

He told the court about an disturbing incident on board Diddy’s private plane in late 2015 while on a trip to Las Vegas.

Diddy and his then girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, were in the bedroom at the back of the plane when Kaplan heard a glass breaking behind him.

He said: ‘It was a glass crash, a shatter. I looked over my right shoulder. I saw Mr. Combs standing over Cassie.

‘She was on her back and her legs were extended up that indicated she was trying to create space between the two of them. He was standing above her. He had a glass in his hand and he was holding it up. It was a whiskey rocks glass.

‘There was tremendous commotion and scuffle and after the glass crashed Cassie screamed: ‘Isn’t anybody seeing this?’

According to Kaplan, Diddy seemed ‘angry’.

Asked if he did anything, Kaplan said no. He said: ‘ I looked away. (I heard) further glass crashing and chaos…

‘…I was 23 years old, all I wanted to do was to have a great job in the entertainment industry. I couldn’t believe my fortune working for an icon. That last way I thought I would be successful was to compromise his well being in any way’.

Another time at Diddy’s Los Angeles home, Kaplan noticed that Ventura was ‘crying on her bed’ and had bruises on her eyebrows and forehead.

The final straw for Kaplan was when he saw Diddy throwing decorative apples at one of his girlfriends called Gina, an incident he called ‘scary’.

The incident led Kaplan to hand in his notice because he was ‘unwilling to stand by the behavior’

Under cross examination from Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilo, Kaplan sung his former boss’ praises extensively and repeatedly

Kaplan said that he learned so much from Diddy it was like ‘drinking from firehose’ and praised his ‘extremely infectious’ energy.

At the time he was hired, Kaplan said he was in his early 20s and felt like Diddy was ‘a god among men talking to me’.

At another point in his testimony, Kaplan said that Diddy didn’t carry money and the only things in his wallet were his license and his black American Express card, which Kaplan said was ‘awesome’.

Describing Diddy’s reach while working for him, Kaplan said: ‘He was doing business all over…..his world was the size of the Earth’.

She described an argument at a hotel in Beverly Hills in 2010 between Ventura and Combs where she heard ‘yelling and screaming’ behind a bedroom door they were both inside.

Combs stormed out and Ventura was left in the room with a swollen eye, a busted lip and knots on her head.

According to Morales, Ventura was ‘distraught’.

Frederic Zemmour, the general manager of the L’Ermitage luxury hotel in Beverly Hills, showed the jury the notes that were put on the account of Diddy, who often stayed there.

The notes, which advised front desk staff, read that Diddy was only allowed to rent ‘entry’ level rooms because he regularly caused so much damage.

The notes read: ‘ALWAYS spills candle wax on everything and uses excessive amounts of oil, place the room out of order upon departure for deep cleaning

‘Please authorize an extra $1,000 when guest stays with us to cover any room damages’.

Under the ‘Housekeeping’ section the notes read: ‘Pls monitor outside his rm / down the hall to spray air freshener. Likes the room HOT! set thermostat to 75. Put portable heater in the room prior to arrival’.

Prosecutors have claimed Diddy used candles during Freak Offs and liked to keep the room warm.

In one daily note from January 10th 2010, the manager’s notes state: ‘Fund large deposit of candle wax on carpet in living room area and on night stands in bedroom areas
