Tuesday’s Final Word – HotAir

Closing the tabs

Here’s the progression of the Democrats’ desperate attempts to shame you out of talking about Joe Biden’s mental and physical health:

“Stop talking about this because it’s not true.”
“Stop talking about this because he’s not the president anymore.”
“Stop talking about this because he has cancer.”

You may notice a pattern.

Ed: I may not care any longer. Democrats used censorship via “misinformation” programs to shut down criticism. Now they’re trying to shame people who dare to challenge their narratives. It’s long past time to stop playing along with this nonsense.

Tapper, renowned in political circles for his aggressively defensive response to criticism, hired Risa Heller, a crisis communications expert, to assist with the book rollout and teach the CNN host how to be “nicer” to critics. She has advised a slew of shady characters including Zoom masturbator Jeffrey Toobin, dick-pic peddler Anthony Weiner, and former CNN boss Jeff Zucker, the office romance maestro who gave Jake his seven-figure contract and turned him into an anti-Trump avenger. Early indications suggest Tapper might be heeding some of Heller’s advice. Last week he described “some of the criticism” of his Biden coverage as “fair,” acknowledging he didn’t do “enough” to cover Biden’s cognitive impairment. “I look back on it with humility,” he said, unconvincingly.

A comprehensive review of Tapper’s past coverage of Biden’s decline suggests that far more humility is required than the CNN host is prepared to convey, especially when viewed in light of the details recounted in Original Sin. CNN has claimed that Tapper “fairly and accurately covered” Biden’s entire career “through years of dogged Washington reporting.” The evidence laid out below in what some have described as the official “Tapper Dossier” shows otherwise.

Ed: This is a pretty good rundown of why Tapper needs a crisis-management PR firm. That doesn’t make some of the revelations in the book noteworthy, but again prompts the question as to why Tapper and CNN spent four years resisting this kind of reporting, even when done by others.

They have no right to their self-satisfaction. Joe Biden and his family deserve our sympathy, but not the benefit of the doubt. It is only judicious to observe circumspection when evaluating even superficially truthful claims promulgated by Biden and his handlers, particularly given the degree to which they have proven that their willingness to mislead the public is a reflex.

We remember how Robert Hur — who has been wholly vindicated in his excessively gentle assessment of Biden’s decrepitude — had his character assassinated by people who knew that his assessment was accurate. We remember what became of the stutter, the shuffle, and the “cheap fakes” — what amounted to an unbelievably haughty demand that Americans discount the evidence of their own eyes in favor of the Democratic Party’s preferred political narrative.

Indeed, given the comfort Biden’s allies showed when lying to the public throughout the last presidency, the president’s phalanx has forfeited the presumption of innocence on which they now rely.

Ed: This was the point I made earlier in regard to the WSJ coverage. These people have lied constantly for the last few years on practically everything. Not only have they forfeited any right to a benefit of the doubt, they have also destroyed any reason for good will in addressing the latest absurd claim that Joe Biden only now got diagnosed with a Gleason 9 metastasized prostate cancer.

Ed: Gotta give Tapper some credit for hanging in there during Megyn Kelly’s public beating. And for going on there knowing Kelly would be loaded for bear in this podcast, too.

Ed: UCLA probably assumes that their enrollees are intelligent enough to feed themselves. Parents don’t usually cave to toddlers when they threaten to hold their breath and turn blue, either.

===

Ed: More “hold my breath until I turn blue” behavior, this time in the Friend Zone. I don’t think her friend lost much in losing this petulant hostage-taker. What makes people cry into their cameras and post their own emotional immaturity for the world to see?

Ed: Requiescat in Pace, Norm. Wendt had some other great performances, including in “Gung Ho,” but he will have a permanent seat at the bar of American culture in all the best ways through “Cheers.” Thanks for a lot of great memories, and condolences and prayers for all of his friends, family, and colleagues.
