Lorraine then went on to praise the medical staff who come from abroad to work in the NHS.

Huge thanks to Mr Rafaat and his top team who’ve chosen to work here and help us – from countries like Croatia, Nepal and all over Europe, Africa and the Caribbean – what on earth would we do without you,” she added.

Lorraine’s fans were delighted to hear that she was on the mend and set to be back on our screens very soon.

One wrote: “So glad to hear you are better, and you are right our NHS and care system owe a debt of gratitude to overseas workers.”

While her Lorraine co-star Ranvir Singh posted: “Beautiful post LK.”

Since her break began over the Bank Holiday, a rotating line-up of guest hosts have fronted her ITV show – including Sian WelbyRanvir Singh and Andi Peters.

On Monday, Lorraine told fans on Instagram: “Thanks so much for all your get well wishes. Billie providing the medicine ever with lots of cuddles for her granny.

“Hopefully back to work on Monday. I’ve missed you.”

Following her op, Lorraine was forced to miss this weekend’s BAFTA Television Awards.

The TV host bowed out of the star-studded London event on Sunday so she can “properly recover” from her health scare.

A source told The Sun: “Lorraine is world’s away from where she was this time last year when she was being honoured with a special BAFTA award.

“She’s been through a lot with her recent health scare and is quite rightly taking some time out to properly recover.

“Lorraine is already missed by the ITV team and will be desperate to get back to the day job.”

Lorraine sparked concern last week when she shared a video of herself with fans as she lay in hospital.

Wearing a gown, the grandmother-of-one explained she was waiting to have a “wee procedure”.

Lorraine said surgeons would be removing her ovaries and fallopian tubes via keyhole surgery as she had “not been feeling well”.

The star insisted it was a “preventative” measure.

Lorraine explained: “Just wanted to let you know I’m having a wee procedure today. I’ve not been feeling all that well for a little while, so I had some scans and tests, and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out.

She added: “It’s purely preventative. It’s going to be with keyhole surgery, which is incredible, I’m being very well looked after, and I’ll obviously see you really soon, and I’m gonna be totally fine.”

The following day, Lorraine posted a photograph of herself in a wheelchair with her medical team.

She confirmed she had since returned home to recover.

Thanking the staff at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, Berks, she said: “Huge thanks to these kind, caring, gorgeous professionals who took care of me at @heatherwoodhospital – back home now and following doctors orders to rest up.

“My surgeon Mr Ahmed Rafaat has been so reassuring throughout – and I can’t thank the whole team enough!”
