People are only just realising there’s a simple trick to track any flight

A frequent flyer has revealed a travel hack that enables air passengers to easily share their flight details with family and friends.

Posting on TikTok@nicoletravelandlife said she wanted the little known trick to be shared with anyone ‘who needs it’.

The 20-second clip on the social media platform begins by showing the TikToker boarding a Ryanair flight, and putting her luggage into the overhead lockers.

Before take off, and while the messenger connection on her iPhone is still connected to the internet, she reveals that she always taps in her flight number and sends it to those who might wish to track her flight while she’s airborne – and after landing.

Showing the simple flight search process on her phone, @nicoletravelandlife wrote: ‘I use this flight hack every time I fly.

‘All you need to do is copy and paste your flight number into messages, hold it down and click “preview flight”‘.

The travel-savvy TikToker continued: ‘It then brings up all your flight information and tracks your flight.’

She said that the hack is particularly useful if someone is picking you up at the airport – because it’ll even reveal when you’ve collected your luggage from the baggage carousel.

She continued: ‘I find this really useful to give to friends and family who are picking you up from the airport.

‘It shows your flight status, the time you departed, the time you’re arriving, if your baggage has been claimed – share this to who needs it!’

While it doesn’t appear to be a function on Android phones, it works for many iPhone users.

Those commenting on @nicoletravelandlife’s post described the hack as ‘sooo good’, while one person said they were surprised more travellers didn’t know about it, saying: ‘This started back in 2017, shows how many people don’t know it’.

Others suggested an app that offers a similar service could be downloaded for those with an Android phone, saying Flight Radar ‘does the same thing’.

More than 1,000 people have already saved the tip, which was posted five days ago.

Earlier this week, a flight attendant left social media users stunned when she revealed her ‘insane’ monthly earnings – despite only working part-time hours.

Josette, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, has worked with regional carrier Southwest Airlines for 14 years, and regularly shares the highs and lows of cabin crew life on TikTok.

In December 2024, the content creator uploaded a video to her page @josette_nicole, where she unveiled the considerable sum of money she had been paid that month.

The clip shows Josette playfully sporting a glum expression, along with additional text that reads: ‘Me getting sick of my job… Then I remember my check last month was $9980.66.’

According to the flight attendant, who added ‘further context’ in a caption below the video, her total earnings that month – which equates to £7,489.98 – was her gross pay.

She added: ‘I work about 150 hours a month. Pay does vary depending on how long you’ve been here and how many hours you work. I am very good at my schedule and get a lot of VJA.’

Over 2000 viewers flocked to the comments to share their shock over the amount Josette had earned in a single month – as some jokingly vowed to switch careers.

One person wrote, ‘WHATT I thought flight attendants didn’t make good money?’ as another said, ‘You can make the same in an office job over 35 hours. That’s insane.’
