There was once an ITV soap that featured major Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks stars.
Set in Greenwich, the show only lasted three seasons after it was first broadcast back in 2001.
It delved into the lives of six families who lived on Thornton Street and followed the story of missing 16-year-old girl, Jane Harper.
The show began on Jane’s birthday and by the end of the day, she had vanished, only appearing in fantasy and flashback scenes afterwards.
ITV’s Night And Day featured a range of different soap stars who went on to appear in more British TV classics.

Kevin Sacre
Soap fans may recognise Kevin from Hollyoaks where he played Jake Dean, the son of Johnno Dean and Frankie Osborne.
He was a complicated character with drinking problems and was sectioned in 2008. Jake returned to screens in 2009 before leaving for good in 2010.
Before Hollyoaks, Kevin portrayed Dennis Doyle who was the eldest son of Roxanne Doyle-Wells.
Kevin had fallen for Jane Harper but was rejected and then became interested in Kate Ellis.
He had a complex relationship with his stepfather, Alex, and never completely trusted him.

Glynis Barber
South African actress Glynis Barber also starred in Hollyoaks and played gangland boss Norma Crow from 2022 to 2024.
Norma suffered a tragic end when she was shot dead by a gangster called Blue, later revealed to be Dave Williams.
Her body was discovered by her son, Warren, weeks later.
Glynis also played Glenda Mitchell in EastEnders from 2010 to 2011. She then returned briefly in 2016 before leaving.
She starred in Emmerdale between 2006 and 2007 too as DCI Grace Barraclough who helped to investigate Tom King’s murder but was killed after being hit by a lorry.
Before her extensive soap appearances, Glynis also played Fiona Brake in Night And Day.
Fiona was a school teacher and was married to Mike Brake.

Sally Dexter
Award-winning actress Sally Dexter has been in both West End performances and soaps.
She played Faith Dingle in Emmerdale who passed away from terminal cancer in 2022.
In 1987 she won an Olivier Award for the Most Promising Newcomer for Dalliance and has featured in a range of musicals including Sister Act, Oliver! and Billy Elliot.
Sally also appeared in Night And Day as Dr Natalie Harper, a GP.
Natalie is also the mother of missing teen Jane and struggles to grapple with the tragic disappearance.

Shane Richie
Best known for his longstanding role as Alfie Moon in BBC’s EastEnders, Shane Richie first appeared in the soap in 2002 and left in 2005.
A bubbly character, Alfie returned in 2018 for a year and again in 2022 and is still currently on screens.
In Night And Day, Shane played Danny Dexter, who was Dennis’s father.
The actor and comedian also voiced Sid in 2006 film Flushed Away, a sewer rat who tries to claim Roddy’s flat as his own.

Lysette Anthony
Roxanne Doyle was played by Lysette Anthony in Night And Day.
The character had frequent outbursts and was the mother of Dennis and Della.
Aside from Night And Day, Lysette went on to star as Yvonne in Hollyoaks between 2008 and 2009.
The actress returned in 2016 and played Marnie Nightingale until 2022.

Stuart Manning
Another Hollyoaks star, Stuart Manning portrayed Russ Owen in the soap and first appeared back in 2004.
A complicated character, Russ kidnapped his son Max McQueen and was disagnosed with testicular cancer.
Eventually, he was murdered by serial killer Breda McQueen in 2018.
Stuart played sportsman Sam Armstrong in Night And Day who was missing teen Jane’s first boyfriend.
Unbeknown to Sam, he had an unborn baby with Jane.
Things took a turn for Sam when both his parents were killed and he had to take care of his siblings.

Bradley Walsh
Soap star turned quiz master, Bradley Walsh has enjoyed a varied career on screen and played Rocky Cotton in EastEnders.
He has presented ITV game show, The Chase since 2009 which sees contestants answer questions and go against a Chaser in a bid to win a cash prize.
However, he also starred in Night And Day as Eddie ‘Woody’ Dexter, the brother of Danny and uncle to Dennis.
