One-year-old girl killed after being hit by car at holiday park

A one-year-old girl has tragically died after being hit by a vehicle on a holiday park today. 

The horrific incident happened after 10.20am on the Bryn Gloch caravan and camp site at Betws Garmon, near Caernarfon, Wales, on Monday. 

The toddler was flown 80 miles by an air ambulance helicopter to Alder Hey children’s hospital, Liverpool, where she died.

The coroner has since been informed, while North Wales Police said they are investigating the cause of the collision.

The force added that the girl’s family are being supported by specially trained liaison officers.

Sergeant Simon Hughes, of the North Wales police Roads Crime Unit, said: ‘Our profound sympathies remain with the girl’s family at this extremely difficult time. They will now be supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

‘The investigation to establish the cause of the collision is well under way and I would like to thank all those who assisted on the site today.’

North Wales Police said: ‘A child has died following a collision on a camping site near Caernarfon earlier today (Monday, April 28th).

‘We received a 999 call at 10:20hrs to a report of a collision involving a one-year-old girl and a vehicle on the Bryn Gloch caravan and camp site in Betws Garmon.

‘The emergency services were sent to the scene – including the Air Ambulance, and the child was airlifted to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.

‘Despite the best efforts of all involved, the child died at the hospital this afternoon.

‘The Coroner has been informed.’

The force added that they are unable to release further details at this time.
