Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert pulled down the pants of Crystal Palace midfielder Ismaila Sarr during a bizarre exchange on Saturday.

The Premier League clash at Selhurst Park – which ended in a goalless stalemate – was a heated affair throughout, with referee Samuel Barrott dishing out a staggering seven yellow cards and a red card.

Palace’s Chris Richards was controversially sent off at the stroke of half-time after picking up a second yellow card.

23 fouls were committed in the game and, while the Eagles were shorthanded for the second half, Andoni Iraola’s side were not able to forge a goal from 15 shots.

As the players marched out for the latter 45 minutes, Kluivert was cautioned for a late challenge on Palace defender Daniel Munoz, which led to him locking horns with Sarr, who was also subsequently booked.

Kluivert cheekily tried to play on after fouling Munoz, but Sarr was having none of it as he stood over the Cherries midfielder and stopped him.

Kluivert responded by pulling Sarr’s pants down, which left Palace’s players incensed, and caused a tussle between both sets of players until the referee stepped in and blew his whistle.

Richards’ dismissal was Palace’s third red card in their last two games at Selhurst Park, with Eddie Nketiah and Marc Guehi being sent off against Brighton two weeks ago.

Oliver Glasner’s side went on to win that game 2-1, becoming the first side in Premier League history to win a home game having received two red cards.

But today, the Eagles were forced to share the points with their opponents, who lost major ground in their race for Europe.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola lamented his side’s performance after they dropped two crucial points.

He said: ‘Probably before the game, it’s not a bad result but considering how thegame has gone, we cannot be happy with this point. We’ve missed a big opportunity.

‘I feel we haven’t used the extra player in a proper way. The game didn’t change a lot between the first half and the second.

It’s going to be four, five teams fighting until the end and the margins are going to be very small.’
